That Kicker sub I am pretty sure won't fit the basket is HUGE. You can do a lot better on pricing if you look around a bit. You want to look at the sensitivity of the speakers to help decide, higher numbers equal more sensitive, not a fan of the Polks at that price lots of better options for less. Make sure you get bass blockers for the rear speakers, some brands come with them, like Cadence. I do think Crutchfield is a great place to get a head unit, if you have problems they are easy to work with. There speakers prices are pretty high. This Kenwood sub is quite a bit more than the Kicker but I think it will fit in the stock enclosure a lot better, I am just posting these as examples, you really need a dual voice coil 2 ohm sub.
KFC-XW800F eXcelon 8" Shallow Subwoofer

See the back of the Kicker, that is where you will have the problem.

Back of the Kicker, you have about 4 1/2 inches of depth but very little width in the stock box.

If you have the money and really want good sound try these, Cadence CVL6-KN, you may have never heard of them but they are one of the best 6.5's out they compare to the 165K3P - Focal 6.5" PolyKevlar Power 3-Way Components that are $2000 a set, (are you freaking kidding me)

The Cadence, these are what is going in my car next, they are about $300, they list for $379

Damn sure won't be these even at $1000 on sale

Is there more than one harness that is needed?  The GM interface listed was the only one that Crutchfield recommended.  A separate steering wheel adapter too?

All,
Thanks for the feed back.  All I am sure of at this point, is there is no way I am paying 2000.00 for a pair of 6.5" speakers!  Wow!  They better order drive thru and pay for gas for that price!

Here is the head unit for $390:

http://store.avcarexpo.com/606.html

If you know the brand and model number of what you want, always try google then the shopping tab.  You'll find some great deals that way.

If your going as far as you are, you might as well replace the factory amp as well and go aftermarket.  You'll get a much more powerful system but if you do you need to make sure your speaker selection matches up well with your speakers regarding how much power they can handle.  I chose to have two amps, one for component speakers and one for the sub.

There are plenty of people on the forums that can give advice in this area.  I mixed and matched my system with CDT Audio component set, Sony shallow subwoofer and Kicker amps.  System has been working great for almost two years now.

Yes sorry, the amp did not make the list, I was looking at a 4 ch alpine that is fairly small.  My plant was to run the 3.5's off the head unit, the 6.5's off the amp and bridge the other 2 ch for the sub.  Will also be looking at poorboys sound dead if I am going to have it all apart.

Anybod want a round trip to San Diego in exchange for an install?  just throwing it out there...
all the golf you can play included (once the install is done of course!) plus tours of local Navy base?  anyone ?

I would never pay $2000 for a set of speakers either, but I wouldn't pay $200 for Polks either ($120 on Amazon), try woofersetc.com, look at the sensitivity numbers on some of the 6.5's Cadence has some for $80 that I am sure will blow away the Polks and you could get a better head unit with the money you save. I have looked and looked at headunits, and it is down to the Kenwood Excelon DNX8120 for $839 or the Clarion at Hookedontronics.com or the Clarion NX509 for $695 from the same site. The Alpine is a good amp, but it is expensive, lots of options there, look for something that runs Class D or Class G, they run much cooler. I have a Hifonics right now just for my sub is is Class A/B it gets pretty warm but a couple of fans keep it cool. For a system amp I will be getting a Zed Audio 6 channel, they are $599 and Don (Rudeboy) recommended them to me, looks like a sweet amp for a good price and
it runs very cool.
The Zed Audio Leviathan it has so many options most amps don't I will just list the link, you can run it about 17 ways from Sunday.
