That's the stuff, and yes I found it at Advance Auto Parts. First time I've ever seen it there, and I stop by once a month or so.

Did a bit more research and discovered it is actually made by Havoline, IE Texaco, Chevron. It was invented and patented by them. Prestone is the major distributor. Here is how to check it and they say it should be checked or it will fail and gum up your engine, not likely on anyone's Solstice but it's not my only GM car, Chrysler uses the exact same stuff so check them too.

As for deciding when to change your antifreeze, don't go by miles or you WILL certainly have seal and mechanical failures. One interesting spec I found is to use a multimeter. You put your negative probe to the negative post on your battery. You then place the positive probe in the neck of your radiator, making sure that the positive probe touches nothing but the antifreeze. Make sure the coolant is warm but not HOT (this is for SAFETY reasons as well as accuracy of your readings. Always be careful when opening the radiator cap on a warm engine). Your readings (regardless of negative symbol on readout) should be:

    * 0.2 V to 0.5 V - antifreeze is still good
    * 0.5 V to 0.7 V - antifreeze is borderline
    * 0.7 V or greater - antifreeze is unacceptable.

You can also use test strips (available at a quality auto parts store for $5 or less), they work on both green and red types too. But if you already have a multimeter, why go buy test strips? The multimeter is the more technically accurate method anyway.

Soon enough, it was dark when I got home, and dark when I left for work this morning as well as raining and sleeting, not the best day for pictures. Hopefully this weekend. If not then next weekend at Joe's as will be taking lots of pictures of the stereo install.

Well the bumblebee is back home, new clear bra and stripes, as I was told this guy is good. The bra is installed 10 times better than when the dealer did it, and the stripes look great. Still thinking on the front may change them a bit they go all the way down to the bottom lip. The back looks amazing. He told me you should always put the stripes OVER the clear bra, if you don't it makes the bra "tent" just a little and dirt will get under the bra and look like ASS. He did the stripe on the windshield surround and on the yoke behind the seats looks fantastic with the top down. Next weekend the great stereo install adventure at Joe's Garage might be a 2 day event, a ton of work to do.

To both of you I will quote myself, the dang weather is not co-operating and I had this other problem today, it's called work. I haven't even seen the car in daylight yet! Go to work in the dark, go home in the dark, and in between they feed me crap, I think I must be a mushroom! I have no plans this weekend so should be able to get some pictures if it ever stops raining.

Wait... I thought you said he striped the waterfall, Comedian...

Looks sweet, though!  Nice width/proportions.

edit:  ahhhh... re-reading your post I see you were talking about the "tulip panel" that was originally silver.

WOW that is a lot of work, next weekend we can throw the second one in mine, bet it takes less than 30 minutes.  I have 90 percent of the stereo stuff, don't have the sat unit yet. Cables including 4 gauge power wire and fuse for the amp are here, waiting on the steering wheel controller should be here Monday with the Sat unit. I think that's it.

Joe,

can the passanger reach that without interferance to the drive while driving?  Should be ok with and auto, but tough with a stick shift?  Maybe not?  Trying to decide my location, and this is one option.  I have stock dash, so above radio is option too.
