Cleaned all the pollen off my car today, clay bar'd and detailed it, cleaned the inside, CONTEMPLATED taking the GM chicklets off, instead decided to paint my hood liner....which didn't turn out quite as planned...... Sooooo. Its back to the drawing board - Different Way a different day. But now I'm double guessing my DIY skills so I'm not sure on whether or not to use the VH tint on my tail lights and third brake light tonight :P

...now I'm double guessing my DIY skills...
Yeah been there, done that, got the T-shirt! When I did my recessed grills, after I spent over $100 in paint and botched the clear coat on the outer ring, I took it to a professional to get done.

Should have done that in the first place.   :(
Just trying to do my part...

Thats how I'm feelin' about the spray tint.... I almost wanna take it to a professional place and have it done... But I'm not even sure if I want to have it done, and I've never used the spray tint so I'm not sure as to how much light it blocks.

Generally 3 coats of spray tint (VHT Niteshades) and then about 6 or 7 coats of clear, using a hairdryer between coats.  Then when that is all done, wet sand with 1000 and then 1500 grit, then buff out for a nice shine.

Hairdryer between coats eh? Like, oh high? or just low enough to bake it on there faster?

And I guess I'll go buy a buffer..... Some joker at school today also keyed my car -_- Not deep... but enough that its a scratch from headlight to tail light and deep enough to piss me off. So I guess it's time to buff that out with the tail lights.

Get a porter cable buffer, high heat to dry the coats.

Drove over to OG racing and bought a helmet that actually fits. A Bell Sport, closed face, size large. Fits like a glove!

A hint i've heard for painting the liner: A couple light coats of scotch guard to seal it 1st.

Washed her again because I'm about to go leave to prom dinner, to a place to where the amount of service you get depends on the car you drive. So I'm glad I have a sexy car like the Solstice   Then to prom and tonight HOPEFULLY tinting my tail lights....

Put the car through it's paces at the my first autocross event for the year. I'm feeling like I'm beginning to be able to do this car justice.

After the instructed segments were up, several of the instructors at the Porsche club A/X school were clamoring to do ride-alongs with me just for fun. So I guess I'm doing something right!

And I may have sold one of the instructors on getting a Kappa. He said he'd been looking at them, I think after today he might look a little harder...

I think GJ, at least I am hoping, thats what the kids are calling sex these days.  Than again I hear you are a year younger then Forrest so you tell me.  If however thats not slang I nominate you to go and explain to him how most young men plan how their prom night should end.

You could use those pictures of your misses, you know those ones in your hose clamp post (thats not slang by the way), as a visual aid for Forrest.

Where is Moby, is he still mad that we increased the octane of his fuel too much?

Welp I got it all installed.
From my point of view, I think it would have been easier to immediately remove the reverse light after removing the stock valence and bolt i to the new valence.  Once I did that, it went in very easy.
Removing the stock valance was simple.  I cut the plastic plugs so there was no resistance pulling them out. They aren't used for Norm's, so I wasn't going to bother spending anytime on removing them in a way they could be reused.   One thing that would have been nice, would be to have the nuts you need included in the kit.  For anyone else, they are M6 metric bolts.  The hex head is 10mm, but that's not enough information for me at least, to buy the nuts I needed ahead of time.  So once I got everything removed, I took one of the bolts to my local hardware store, got some washers and nylon lock nuts, came home and finished up.  All in all, even with this little side trip, it only took about 2hrs and that was with me being extremely careful.  Being as small as I am, I didn't even need to jack up the sky.

So here are the 2 stock parts I removed.
Stock Valence and a little heat shielf

Here is the empty space you are left with

Here is the new Valence

It's looks really good, but I'm going to speak with Norm.  It seems to be a just a little narrow.  But it's so close, that I wonder if there is a way I can work the rear part of the sky to bridge the gap and tighten this up.  If anyone else ran into this, I'd be willing to hear what ever trick you used.
Left Side

Right Side

Even so, I am extremely pleased.  It's a gigantic improvement over the stock one, fits better than most of the stock parts and I think the craftsmanship is awesome.

elff: i would expect to have that already on your car, i know you have a nice rear end but is good even is a little bit late. My package had everything included, nothing was added to mount the rear fascia. And your rear  seems a little bit wider

Back on topic: I have bought Griffin WindowSeat Mount for iPhone and sticked it in the left corner of the windshield, it's not perfect but is good enough. Looking forward to the Kiwi PLX to finish the "gauge" mod.

The timing was a lack of money thing.  Had to fix some stuff in the house and we also renovated our kitchen.
But once I got the moola, I was PM-ing Spicy like a madman.

Changed VCIM. Now when I press the right button it says ready and I say bluetooth and it says bluetooth ready. It's all paired up and answers calls. I couldn't be happier.
