Sleeves that wrap around the front and tie in the back sane??

What are these Trunk springs you are talking about?
Are they just new ones to replace the original ones
or do they have more tension to really make it jump open?
Check the post " trunk doesn't always completely open"
They work great. Takes about ten minutes.
I did like Joe and drilled a small hole.

Elff -  No you don't replace the current spring (actually it is a tension bar).  Instead you add two small springs from you local hardware store.  Check the link.

GJ - it is a good thing you live in California, where most people don't speak English, and can't understand you, or you would be living in a padded room.

I checked Home Depot and Canadian Tire....no luck finding any similar springs.  Will try a few other smaller hardware stores to see if they have any :(

KWhale I  will be glad to get a set of springs and mail them to you.

Thanks for the kind offer Dick! (Notice SA and GJ that Dick did not stoop to slagging Canada!!).  The shipping will probably be triple the cost of the springs, so let me keep looking for some locally for now. If I'm still stuck in a couple of months, I'll might have to take you up on your gracious offer and bite the bullet on shipping.

And for what it's worth, we refer to summer as 6 weeks of tough sledding  (you have to think sled dogs there).

Alright I have to admit that not having "Spring" in Canada was pretty funny SA.

Jimmy,

I'll make you a deal to get you up and going faster.  I will send you my Stock IC free of charge other than you pay the shipping.  You send me a DDM intercooler when they come in and we will call it even.  You will be up and running with your new toy in no time, while I sit an look at my poor car with no IC.  I like you that much.  I really want you to have a car that goes sideways towards a mailbox!  Just say the word and I'll throw my IC in the mail.

Started the long path to upgrading my (non-Monsoon) stereo.  Got Alpine SPR-17S component speakers for the fronts, Kicker 3.5's for the back and a Kicker CVT8 sub for the kappa subwoofer box I got from ICS.  To be powered by an Eclipse EA4200 amp.

Today I fab'd a mount ring for the sub and got that all ready for the sub to be mounted (still waiting on speaker cable).  I also mounted the tweeters in the A-pillars.  Managed to Dremel-carve slots in the Alpine tweeters so they would clip in to the stock mounts.  Then moved the stock connectors over also so they are simply running in place of the stocks for now (will re-wire to the Alpine crossover later when the amp and the door speakers go in).

Quite a lot of work but not much to show for it. <sigh>

Jimmy jump all over this offer, but when you send him the DDM "inter-cooler" get DDM to send you a heater core that they powder coated pink, and be sure to include a picture of Chuck Norris for good measure. Oh and take about six months to send it to him, use next year air for shipping.  Critter how do you think Jimmy should tag the "inter-cooler" before he sends it to GJ?

NASSM President?  Heck, I'm running for THE President.   :usa:

To get back on topic for a few minutes anyway, here is what I did today:

1/ Spring mod for trunk
2/ MAF sensor cleaning- I have been popping the P0101 code here and there, hope this helps.
3/ blew few 18 in the passenger footwell - shift interlock.  Couldn't remove the key until I replaced the fuse.  I have the shift boot, surround and center console out getting "refinished" with JPM and somehow blew the fuse.  Not sure how really, but the shift interlock mechanisms are all exposed for now, so not that hard to do I am sure.

For Sunday, I will be buying a few 2 amp fuses.  Yup, it's a 2 amp fuse.  If this happens to anyone else, you can pull your steering wheel controls backlight fuse (forgot the number, but it's identified) and use that to get you key out as it is the other 2A fuse in that box.

You don't need to buy a new fuse... just a little aluminium foil...

I know huh!  My first thought was ' does that say 2A?  Do they even make those?

I am surrounded by auto zone, pep boys and kragen, so someone is bound to have them.  if not, there is always radio shack.

Today I installed the Trunk Spring mod
About 10 minutes later, when I was working on the jeep, I heard a snap

I must have drilled a hole either a little of center or too big because the one side snapped below the new hole
So now I have a non working trunk.
Will have to find out how much those parts are.
