it's a religious holiday today, so i woke up, filled the trunk with everything necessary (that was not difficult at all ) and headed for my country house.
2 miles from my house and on the road to get some gas, check gas cap sign showed on my DIC...  :censor:
i thought i was about to change my evap once again.
reached the gas station just to find out that my gas cap was indeed open and loose!!!
(in Greece, gas stations are not self service, employees of the station fills up each car). so some a$$hole did left my gas cap open...
ps, it must have been opened when i reported the weird sound from my exhaust problem

from now on, i am filling up the car on my own...

george ; Just get in the habbit of checking the cap after its filled up .There some States here that won;t let you pump your own Gas either. I check mine when ever I'm in New Jersey .

Sly Bob, wow, down to just two states now!  I can remember way back, in Kansas, it used to be that way and full service stations were the norm when I was a kid.  When they eventually phased out, there was concern that there might be some problems with owners doing it and maybe cause fires at gas stations because because of various things, including smoking near the pump.  So, yes, total trust is back!

Sadly their gas is cheaper than NY so we always gas up before we leave the state. We keep a very close eye on the gas attendant though.

Funny you mention that. I traded my Caliber in for the Sky a few months ago. At first it was odd, but then I couldn't imagine going back, especially after driving my fiance's Nissan Rogue.

Gas is way cheaper in NJ. I almost always get out of the car. Watch the attendant and stop the gas on my own so they don't overfill. Sometimes I do it all myself if they are busy, and they rarely care.

We try to do that also. One guy said it was illegal for us to pump our own; however, others just watch and laugh as we stand there holding the handle the entire time. NY has removed the clips/tabs from the handles and it's illegal to put the gas cap in the handle to leave it in the "on" position. You have to stand there and physically hold the handle to pump the gas.

It is amazing how incredibly stupid some government agencies can be. With well more than 40 states allowing the general public to pump their own gas, and have the trigger locks, you would think a safety record for such things would be well established. Totally nuts to me to not be able to pump your own gas, or lock the trigger, especially in places as cold as NY.

Drove to work and put the top cover on it waiting on the snow that is coming.

I did receive my new KappaRack and Fumoto oil drain valve yesterday. Hopefully I can change my oil and install the rack this weekend.

You might be amazed at how many people have defeated the trigger locks by wedging them open with Bic lighters, pocktknives, etc. A lot of spilled fuel and some very scary fires have been the result of those stupidly careless people.
