Didn't have to be winter if the pads were cold they squealed like a stuck pig. Once you heated them up they were fine but normal driving, reminded me of fingernails on a chalk board

I hardly ever hear mine squeak, maybe I screwed them up. Now I'm worried.

Was talking to a guy at work last night that has a 2006. He drives it once in a while in the winter and he was asking me if I have had the squeak in the front end. Of course he was talking about the front stabilizer bushings. I said no, I don't drive it when it's cold.

Dejon can powercoat the elbow that comes directly off the turbo.  You've got everything else done, so that Silver elbow sticks out.

This is the first year I've had to drive it in the cold and I just started getting that squeak.
I initially thought it might be a coilover
Are those the bushings for the Stabalizer bar?
If so that would be awesome. I can pop 4 bolts, grease up the bar and mounts and put the bolts back in.
Is there a greasable aftermarket bushing for the FE3 bar?

4 bolts!

Easy and done in 30 minutes, including jacking up the car.

I have some urethane bushings that have grease channels in them. I am going to drill the stock clamp and add zerk fittings so I can grease them as often as I need to. As far as I know there are no direct replacement bushings with grease fittings. Just waiting on halfway decent weather.

Nice job on the pictures Jim. Yeah I had my elbow off the turbo powdercoated by a local guy for $5. He's in Port Colbourne and he's called birdsperformancecoatings.

I was thinking about doing that.  I can probably get it done locally here...

Started a little paint project.

Supplies:

Prepped, cleaned several times with denatured alcohol, then taped.

A light coat:

Proof that cleaning means really cleaning:

I had to strip all the paint back off and reclean it several times. It would have been much easier, and less messy, to just clean it right the first time.

After the cleaning and repaint, it looks much better.

The engine cover after 3 coats.

After it dries, hopefully tomorrow, I will be adding the accents. Stay tuned.

I am thinking the front bushing squeak is salt not cold.  Every time I run it through a car wash it goes away - regardless of temps.  Every time they salt the roads it comes back.  So, makes me wonder about lubing which could trap the salt.

There may be something to that, though a good lube will prevent the salf water from getting in. Since I lubed mine I have driven several times in salt with no reoccurred yet.

Cobalt SS Turbo guy at work wants to race. We have an empty parking lot full of gravel, that should keep him spinning for awhile especially if he no-lift shifts.  :)

Mine squeaks in the winter time when its really cold.  It has nothing to do with road salt.

Just an FYI about the squeaking. After changing the front and rear sway bars and using the bushings and lube that old goat recommended, I NO LONGER have ANY squeaking at ANY time. Hope this helps.

Timely conversation. For the first time since 06 I finally popped the bushings off today and greased them. I have been dealing with that damn squeak almost year around now, every bump.

Swapped out the thermostat also due to an occasional "---" DIC temperature reading.  Was the inner seal.  Hal 9000's post was the deal.

It's a great theory, but I may have to disagree with you on that one. Mine has never seen snow/salt (until about 4 days ago) and I've had the bushings replaced twice already. Since mine is no longer under warranty, I try to wait until it's 39 degrees or above then I drive :)
