Drove home from guys night with the top down and the seat heater on low.  It was chilly, about 65 at 11 PM.

Oh, and guys night consisted of me and my buddy goofing off with his 2 and 4 yr old sons.  I taught one of them to read, while he taught the other how to catch.  Wild night. Probably shouldn't have driven after all that excitement.  We had the boys while all the misses went out for happy hour(s)

It was a miserable morning (Cloudy, windy day around 50 degrees and a hangover from drinking til 4:30 AM) so I decided to do a little work on the car.

Started out by claybaring the entire car, then moved on to SSR 2.5 to get rid of some of the scratches they put in it during shipping.  Hit it up with some Pro Polish II and EXP Sealant.  It looks so much better already!  Drove it back to my parking spot and covered it up for the night.

I'll put another coat of EXP on it in the morning and let it sit for a while and do the rims, engine compartment, interior and windows before applying some Black Hole Glaze.

Great can't wait.  Glad you had a great time, and did well.  What kind of lap times?  Awesome track
I didn't record my lap times and most laps I'd have slower folks in front of me...

I will post my results sheet later tonight. Ambient temperature 87*, relative humidity 49%, 3 pulls, 268whp, 297 torque, 268whp, 309 torque, 265whp, 312 torque. Dynojet SAE smoothing factor 5. What should our AFR numbers look like?
BTW, '07 RL with GMPP tune, average was about 210whp and 200 torque, needless to say he wasn't happy.

GT8R are you tuned? Westers?
210whp with GMPP sounds low reading dyno, almost as low as Lyndon's  :D

I am tuned, GMR when they first came out. Considering heat and humidity I wasn't jumping for joy, but I wasn't real upset either. I took my wife's bone stock V6 Camaro over to use as a baseline. Remember this is a 2011, with 312bwhp from the factory. If I go by the other threads on the forum, 15% loss should take it down to 265whp. The readings averaged 245whp and 220 torque. From that I can only figure that heat and humidity are a huge factor or that the dyno is conservative, or a combination of both. :idk:

That puts you somewhere around 305-310 bhp G8TR.  that seems right in line with most of the "stock plus tune" cars out there.  A good 40-50 bhp jump over stock.  When folks ask about my car, those are the numbers I tell them.  I have no idea if it's accurate, but most people don't know the difference anyway.  I did tell one guy (a really annoying little wanker) that I got a "special" tune that took the car up to 500 HP for short 2 minute bursts when I push the traction control button, and then showed him how the car goes in to "Competitive Mode" when this happens....   :)

That was my question. Nothing? Are we referring to the heat and humidity, as Kelu said that shouldn't make a difference. However, why the terrible drop on the Camaro?
GJ, that was a great idea to tell the smart *ss. I'll have to remember that one.

Camaro could show "lower" than you have expected because of many reasons:
- maybe drive train loss is bigger
- maybe the car doesn't output all the time 312bhp
- maybe this is hwo the calibration of the dyno outputs
- maybe you had not good tire pressure or operator didn't tighten it strong
- etc

I would ask dyno perator for other camaros stock dynos and compare from there.

Kelu,
Camaro website says 18% loss. Tire pressure was checked prior to putting the car on the dyno. Reading done in 4th gear for a 1/1 ratio. Just seemed awful low for what the car is supposed to have. Of course my butt dyno says it is much better. :D

Holy Crap....I bought new tires to replace my snow tires and had them mounted on my chrome OEM wheels yesterday, took them home to install them myself.  Started on the back tire replacement first....not problems...then I started on the front and could not get either wheel off...rusted on.  I used PB Blaster and kicked and hammered with rubber mallet...still would not budge...tried again this morning...still no go...called shop up the street.  The Shop was great, I told them about lifting the car properly.  They took the car right in, put it on a ramp and lifted the front without any damage.  Then used a rubber covered sledge hammer to tap the tires loose.  They removed the rust and put oil on the area they cleaned....all for $20.  What a relief....They told me that the rims from TireRack that I bought with my snow tires were very tight and the same thing would probably happen next time I use them.  Thats what I get for buying cheap rims for the snow tires.

Old shade-tree 'fix' for that is to slightly loosen (but NOT remove :) ) the studs/nuts and slowly drive the car forwards/backwards a few feet.  Usually dislodges the wheels off the hubs.  Do this at your own risk!

TS-
Great trick.  I've used this many times when living in salty roads country.  No need to loosen the nuts very much, a few turns maybe, but enough so that when it does break loose, the wheel still kind of stays in place.

DRM- coat the surface where the two metals touch with anti-seize.  It will splatter everywhere the first few times you drive, but once I started doing this, I've never had to hit with a hammer again.  A little sanding of the rust prior to smearing on the AS is good too.

Did the halfway between oil changes oil filter change. While checking the oil level found it to be down about 1/3 a quart (or about 2/3 quart between oil changes) or so. Sound about normal? Does what I wrote even make sense to anyone besides GJ?

Despite intermittent downpours I managed to get a little done. My garage is too full to get the car all the way in, so I had to do it half at a time.

First I installed the new billet grill.

Looks great, can't wait to see it in the sunlight tomorrow.

Then I turned the car around and installed my KappaRack, and test fitted my waterproof luggage in anticipation of our trip to Tennessee next weekend.

Since I had installed it previously it was much easier to install the second time.

I put on the waterproof luggage I purchased to test the fit. it should be big enough for my lady's stuff!

In this next shot you can see the rain pouring down!

And how I make sure it doesn't slide off to the side.

Overall I am happy about the grill and the rack/luggage. I am going to try to put on my mud flaps this week. No way to do it half in the garage.
