Part numbers and illustrations - I haz em
« on: November 26, 2009, 01:01:35 AM »
I was fortunate to come across a copy of Microcat from 9-2008.  From what I can tell it's complete for even the 2009 model years.

If you have a need post up and I will do my best to locate what you are looking for.  The tool is new to me, so keep that in mind.....  I have not tested it but assume I can print any illustration to a PDF.

I'll would love to check to see the door locking system from the driver's door.

I have removed the door face but I couldn't check what's around there because of the limited space. My driver door is not locking, only with the key.

My guess would be that someone tried to get into your car with a "slimjim" - GM linkage is designed to break away of specific tools are not used to try and open it that way.  Unless you were in there and bumped the linkage out.

Not sure this will help:
http://ocnav.com/cars/Sky/part_nums/Door.png

It looks like there's 3 links for the lock -
18 - lock motor / door hitch mechanism
19 - door button link
24 - door handle link
25 - door lock cylinder link

If the interior (manual) door button still works it's probably part 25.  If not - the whole works might have come off the motor.

Here's the lock:
http://ocnav.com/cars/Sky/part_nums/Door1.png

Here you can see the "fork" (part 9) that the linkage connects to...
It's also possible that you popped off the end of the lock (parts 10 & 9) and that would in effect disconnect the locking mechanism as well - but in that case I would expect that the door would not lock at all.

If you need specific part numbers let me know and I will pull them.

On a side note: wow - this program has some BUGS - it crashes way too often - I do not think I'll be able to print to a PDF.  I may try loading it into a virtual machine to see if a "cleaner" OS helps....

Cool!  Ok, here's one:

Lower air dam (mine is shaved down a lot) and front fender liners for a 2007 GXP.

PN Nos.?  Fasteners and PNs needed to reinstall?

If you can name the parts I will give you what I have:

http://ocnav.com/cars/Sky/part_nums/sol_front.png

The fenders _should_ be comprised of the parts shown in red here:
http://ocnav.com/cars/Sky/part_nums/sol_fender.png
HOWEVER - it does not give a total fastener count, so you can pass that on or just extrapolate from the parts list I generate.

NOTE: I'm going to stop embedding images in my posts - it's costing me bandwidth when "casual observers" visit this thread.  But I will include links for images.

Also:  Anyone making a request - it is far easier to identify your car by VIN.  Note that I have determined that VINs for Coupes might not register - HOWEVER - there are some Coupe parts in there, so it may be catch-as-catch-can on the Solstice Coupe

That diagram is helpful.

The air dam parts I need are 25, 26, 27, 28 and maybe 29.

I will try to run down their formal names, and hopefully that will lead me to the GM PNs.

Not sure about the fender liners.  Maybe the detail on them is on another diagram?

Thanks again.

Again, fastener quantities are a bit ethereal, but this should help:
http://ocnav.com/cars/Sky/part_nums/sol_fender1.png
(based on this image: http://ocnav.com/cars/Sky/part_nums/sol_fender.png)

and

http://ocnav.com/cars/Sky/part_nums/sol_airdam.png
(based on this image: http://ocnav.com/cars/Sky/part_nums/sol_front.png)

You should, of course, validate this with your friendly GM Parts counterman before ordering.  This is my first day using this tool and it's buggy as hell. Caveat Emptor.

EDIT:
Mods - please don't apply IMG tags - if KappaPerformance wants to host the images for me that's great just let me know what to do, but this BW eats into the very little amount I am allotted on my website. If someone really wants to see them all they need do is click on the links - but if the images are embedded every single person that views this thread pulls that image from my site.

Thanks for understanding.

Here are the installation instructions for the light.

KB - I will poke around, but so far I have seen very little that offers detail - it's a parts catalog.  HOWEVER - I just bought a "repair DVD" on eBay - won't have it for a few days, but it will have more detail on specifics like wiring (or so I assume).

Sol, Ben's lower air dam has been ground down to an extreme. Even if it's cracked I doubt GM would replace it...

Yeah - it was $7 so I figured what the hell.  The guy had a massive number of sales and 100% positive feedback - I figured for $7 it was worth a shot.....

The numbers I gave are for the fender liners not the air dam, Ben asks for both items.  If he has ground down the liners I don't want to know how he managed that as there are several other items that hang down lower. ;)

Kenny - I have some diagrams but am not sure what sensor or wire you might be after in the chassis (seems easiest to wire to a coil, no?)

If you want, PM me your email address and I will send you a few PDFs

Bob - I'm not sure what's in the Alldata stuff, but what I received was worth the $7 - it's better than anything I had so far! (67 files, 205MB total, including one small movie that shows the supercharger "at work")

I think we found the right wire. And yeah it's at the coil. Bob was able to figure out which one. I am going to try it this weekend

I need to know what the part numbers are for the hood liner and plugs and the panel just beneath the steering wheel.  TIA

To attach images, click preview and then on the lower left, addtional options.
