Hey all, questions about extended warranty / warranties
I bought my 07 GXP used with 11K miles and about 12 months remaining in the warranty. The original owner had purchased the GMPP (GM protection plan) Major Guard. He paid over 2K for it I believe. All I had to pay was a $50 transfer fee within the first 30 days of ownership, which I did.
Anyway, what bugs me is it doesn't cover the TOP! Convertible is specifically excluded. What kind of crap is that? So my question is, who has what extended warranty, how good is it, has anyone used the GMPP and how was it?
I am not out of warranty yet (August 25, 2010) so I am ok for now, but I am worried about the convert top. There seems to be lots of issues with them as time goes on and I was hopeful that a GM warranty would cover a GM car with a GM roof on it...
Here is a list of what is not covered, taken directly from the GMPP site:
Component Coverage
Covered Parts
•It's as simple as this: If it's not on the very short list of what's not covered, it's covered!
•For years, millions of Major Guard customers have known that, "From the engine to the trunk lock, if a part breaks - even if it results from wear and tear *Wear and Tear Coverage: The applicable coverage in the event an orginal or like replacement part is unable to function in normal service. - and it's not on the list of the few items not covered, Major Guard will pay for the repair less any applicable deductible - whatever the part!"
Non-Covered Parts

•Body parts, panels and rails
•Bumpers
•Chassis frame
•Cross members

Unless required in connection with a covered part we will not pay for: engine tune-up, suspension alignment, wheel balancing, filters, lubricants, engine coolant, drive belts, radiator hoses, heater and vacuum hoses, windshield wiper blades, air conditioning recharging, fluids, spark/glow plugs and wires, brake pads/linings and brake shoes/rotors, manual clutch disc, vehicle manufacturer recommended maintenance services and parts.
Every other part is covered! If this is a repeat of a prior thread, I appologize. I normally search the site to see if something has been posted already, but I was too lazy and a bit frazzeled (been way under the weather the past few days) and I can't find my GJ!

oh here it is

Thanks,
GJ
