16 oz. water bottles or similar. It seems (to me) that it's not the width of the cupholder that's the problem, but the depth.

500 mL Fiji water (square bottle smartin was talking about) and 20 oz vitamin water.  That is what I drink most often in the car.  I think getting every 20 oz bottle you can find and testing that would be the way to go.  Seems to be the most common size of bottle that people get/buy.

The stock cup holders suck so much I don't take any drinks in my car. Judging by the quality of my JPM center console anything you come up with will be A major improvement.

Sorry for the lack of updates.  We've been so busy this spring, I never had the time to wrap up this project.  I'll probably be bringing it to the mod meet though.

I usually go for 20oz to 24oz coffee from Circle K and sometimes a 32oz but they usually come with smaller bottom to fit in the regular holders. I am afraid to use my cup holder on the passenger side as it looks too delicate and breakable, so I use the twisting, contortionist move with my right elbow and wrist behind the passenger's seat to place my cups.
