Two common problems start on same day!
« on: January 30, 2010, 03:10:34 PM »
I took the little misses to work this morning as the in laws have hijacked our other car.  On the way in I noticed a "SQUEAK" when I hit a bump.  I started laughing thinking about the may posts / threads about the damn sway bar squeak.  That is common problem number 1.

Since I had to be up so early (5 am) to get her to work, I thought I would go out for a nice sunrise ride thru the hills.  Heading down the freeway, stopped for gas and was getting back on the freeway.  Punched it, car took of like a crazed animal and then:

poof.  Nothing.  No power.  Limp mode.

DBG,
you were right.  :urock: I knew you were right. I was trying to make it to MMM7 before buying new clamps.  I didn't make it.  Blew my IC pipe off.  Limped to the gas station, re-attached the hose and I was off towards home.

Anybody know if the code will clear itself?  I know it will stay in the system, but will the check engine light go out after a few key cycles?

Still laughing.  These cars a very predictable... :gaah:

Bought my new clamps (and a fuel pump insulator) this week.  But I don't like working on cars in cold weather.  Its 14 degrees out there and the garage is cold.  So I am going to wimp out for warmer weather and hope not to blow my IC hoses.

Jack:
If the hose that blew off was not on the hose end attached to the Throttle Body, you can double clamp (using regular clamps) every other hose attachment point temporarily until you get the T-Clamps installed.   :2c:

as far as your code goes as i understand it OBDII does not reset with key turns like OBDI did. as you drive it runs test's and it need to cycle though so many tests without the ECM seeing a problem then the light will turn off.

You guys are lucky, you just call DDM, wonder what the first guy who did this had to do. Oh yeah I had to figure it out myself!. It was Lyndon that first saw this problem after the first dyno tune he did on a GXP.

GJ,

Thanks.  After The Comedian figured it out, we all changed the clamps.  DDM does make it easier to order the parts.

Just for the record, I was lucky I decided to do this after Dejon started selling his replacement tubes, he had the dimensions posted of his, that is what I used when I ordered my first set, then I told Dave at Dejon if he was going to sell the tubes he needed to sell better clamps. He did finally listen, and then DDM made things even easier with a kit, points for Dr. Love.

I had the same problem with a condem. An  easy way to remove a code after fixing the problem is to disconnect a battery cable then reconnect it. Poof its gone
