hello, i'm from Greece and my name is Anagnostis. i am new here and i want to tell you my problem. i recently bought a solstice GXP 06 with 27500 kilom. 1 week ago the light of low coolant water lighted. the light was correct as the water was down. i saw a leak under the engine. it is surely a water pump failure. i read about at the solstice forum. from pontiac told me that i have to wait 25 days for the pump to come in Greece and the cost is 300-350 euros. does anyone know where can i find an aftermarket waterpump to order and come earlier and cheaper? help, i'm going to be mad.....

1) As the LNF is not a common engine outside of North America, there is probably not an after market water pump available. But, Google may be the best method to research that. As it is, at ~$1.40 to the Euro, that price may be reasonable once shipping, import duties, and any other taxes are added in.
2) Can you clarify the year and model of you car? There were Solstice GXPs built in calender year 2006, but they are all 2007. The only 2006 Solstices were all 2.4 non-turbo power cars. There are no 2006 GXPs (unless your country goes by product date versus manufactures model year designations).

the 100,000 mile warantee is transferable, if you have a gm dealer out there they should honor the guarantee on your solstice

If it is a GXP, you will have a turbo, if that is the case, you can goto a Opel dealer and purchase the water pump.  It's the same on the Opel GT

Also the digital display DIC window will say "SOLSTICE GXP" when you first turn on the car.  Then it is in fact a GXP.  Then the car would be a 2007 model.

1)i emailed DDMworks today and told me that they can send me a pump very cheap. at 60$ with 50$ the shipping. i don't know if the pump is aftermarket or GM's. i don't care, i find it a good occasion.
2)the model is GXP 2.0 turbo with 310hp. my licence has first licence date in USA 12/12/2006. i don't know. i hope it is product date.

GATZA - be careful as there is a special tool required to hold the cam chain in place while removing and replacing the water pump.  The water pump is located in the back righthand side of the engine, but you need to start at the front of the engine and work to the back.  I believe the turbo and exhaust needs to be removed as well.

i know about the tool. i read all the posts. i may have to order the tool also. but i don't think the turbo and exhaust have to be removed. i will not do it myself. my car-shop is great. they know too much. i have told them everything. i even gave them the service repair manual that i have.

DDM is a fair and honest vendor. The shop labor rate is well under 2.5 hours.

As for model year, as noted by others, it IS a 2007 model year car that was produced after early May 2006. If it was first registered in the USA in Dec 2006 it was probably built in late summer/early fall 2006.

i didn't understand. if it was first registered in dec 2006 it is 2006 model year. why it is 2007?

Please make sure your shop uses the tool correctly.  If they do not, you pump will make quite a bit of noise and they will tell you it is bad.  It is not, they did not follow the procedures as it is different on an Ecotec than on other cars.

in america, build date is not always the date of release

the first gxp's were buult the end of 2006 but not sold until the 2007 season

it's weird out here, you could buy a 2007 in 2006 becuase cars are sometimes released a few months early

i hope so, i gave them the service repair manual. if they don't do it the only problem will be the noise or it can be worst?

Gatza,  In the US, the next model year car typically is sold 5 months prior to the actual year.  In other words, the 2011 cars will be sold and in the public's hand in August of the 2010.  Your GXP is a 2007.  People were taking delivery in late 2006, early October/November.  Seat controls were added to GXPs in November.
