Actually I started to hate Toyo R888. Tried them last year on my car, on wet are VERY slippery, on a good road surface are great, for drag racing they are "dangerous".
Last year, when I used those tires (same track) I did a best 1.95s on 60ft on lightest 17" rims, this year I did same time on 60ft with stock rims and stock tires (Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Positon) and no increase of power since than.
Why they are dangerous for drag racing? Around here, lacking any real drag tirs everybody uses Toyo R888 but I see so many cases of broken shafts, diffs or gearboxes. Being track tires, R888 have reinforced sidewall, which makes them heavy and most important, the sidewall doesn't flex combined with good traction they put all the stress on the next parts (shafts, diffs, gearboxes). On a drag tire the shock is absorbed by the tire (check out drag slicks slow motion videos) but with track tires the shock is not absorbed by the tire but the next weakest component of the transmission.

I was about to buy Toyo T1R but read some reviews saying that after 50% of their life they start to be very noisy. Also read that T1R has a very soft sidewall for a street tires which makes it more preferable for drag races.

The tires I bought are great. They aren't summer only but I thought I would share.

If you buy Good Years in Europe they are made by Sumitomo, the Dunlops are also made by Sumitimo, as are the Falkens. The Toyo Proxies is supposed to be a really sticky tire, never tried them, Nitto's would be a good drag tire soft sidewall.

Goodyear F1 Assymetrics will not let me burn rubber unless I am in a partial turn.  Very good lateral hold as well which is what they were designed especially to maximize.  Even with all the DDM upgrades the car will lean a bit before the tires start to give at all so the dynamics of turning (taking exit ramps as Bogie likes to do for example) can be much more exciting but still safe.

Aren't those the stock tires on a LNF Kappa?  I'm not too impressed with them, way too easy to spin them and cornering is so so.
