Boost level with GMPP tune
« on: April 26, 2010, 02:57:05 PM »
I installed the GMPP tune along with the GMPP CAI and was wondering what kind of boost I should be seeing on the DIC gauge ?

The most I'm seeing is 18 pounds. When I first bought the car a couple of weeks ago it would register between 13-15 pounds and now after the install it is now registering between 15-18 pounds. Does that seem low if so any ideas ?

The gauge is limited to 23 lbs I believe.

I usually hit between 18 and 20 #'s.  It depends on the temp outside.  Warmer it is higher.  I am in KC which I believe is around 750 ft above sea level.  There was good older thread where someone was keeping track of boost.

18-19 in 3rd is not bad. might get a bit higher in 4th and 5th WOT. Give it time and it may go higher.

It will vary with different weather conditions and altitude

I tend to see 19-20 with occasional peaks of 21.  Temps here have been about 80 degrees or so with low humidity and approxiamately 2000 feet elevation.

Air temp, Altitude, Humidity, Plaid, and affect boost.  The first three affect the amount of pressure (boost) needed to make the HP and torque.  The last just looks plain silly in our cars.

Critter,

Why you got to be like that?  I just ordered a roll of plaid tweed to redo the interior with JPM at the mod meet....  damn... I thought it was going to be looking good...

Boost-
as Critter says, lots of things affect boost.  Pre tune I was seeing anything from 15 to 22 depending on conditions.  After tune, I'm pegged at 23 all day every day.  Judging from others with aftermarket boost gauges, it's more likely 25 - 28 psi.  (07 only reads to 23 as noted above)

I bet you look awful sexy in your plaid sportcoat and hat driving Bixabel down the road !

I'm about the same elevation. My average is between 20-21psi at full throttle. I do hit 22psi occasionally.

Plaid is so common you should look into a proper tartan.
