I have an 08 Pontiac Solstice GXP. Their car was in great running condition. The only issues I have ever had with the car was to have the EBCM re programmed due to the loss of breaks at vehicle start up.

I had my PCM reprogrammed with an aftermarket program (Ill keep the company name out for now).When I re installed the ECM, the dash started lighting up like a Christmas tree.

1) Check engine light
2) ABS
3) Check traction control
4) Codes dealing with, low break voltage, low boost pressure Low break vaccum pressure.... etc

Ive had the charging system checked and that is good. Battery is good. When the dash advised me to have the traction control system checked (the radio goes off) strange.

Anyone know what might be causing this. I think having the PCM programmed will void the warranty. I have only 19,000 miles on the car... HELP IF YOU CAN.

Yup, that is going to cost you.

Take it to a dealer and get it reprogrammed to stock - that is where you should have taken it when you had the brake problem - why on Earth would you do anything else when it is under warranty?

It probably won't affect ongoing warranty coverage but you'll have to pay them to fix it this time.

Crank down the battery terminals really tight and then try again. And then do the stock ECM and then get the brakes serviced.

I think he did have the EBCM reprogrammed under warranty. after that, he had his ECM programmed by an aftermarket tuner. The only place that can / should tune the EBCM is the dealer. I had the same reflash of the EBCM done a month ago and it solved the issue I had, for now at least.

The first thing I would do is contact the aftermarket tuner. If you were having no issued the day you took out your ECM and now you are, there is something wrong. Also, they can return you ECM to stock and see if it goes away. I understand why you withheld the name of the company, but that being said, if they are a comany worth their salt, they will work on this problem until it is fixed or return you to stock and refund your money. You paid for a service, it is causing you problems. Go back to them for help. That would be my step 1. A simple phone call may solve all your issues and have you going fast.

Sorry, I didn't twig to the fact that you'd solved the brakes before the new tune. Agree with the other guys - have the seller fix it or remove it and install your original tune (you did get that from the tuner, didn't you?)

I would also suggest that you check the contacts for the ECM.
Maybe something got bent when you re-installed it.

Other than that, I agree with Arabas because I can't agree with GJ or Critterman.

also- Sol-Stuce,

did the tuner tune your original ECM or did you get a second one? If you have a second one, put your original back in and see if the problem goes away. That will be a good indicator that the tune is just off slightly.
If you had an 07, you could borrow mine... alas, you don't.

Thanks everyone. Battery (Optima), charging system and cables were good.

Car was at to the dealer a couple months ago for the oil change and warranty service. No issues at that time, so it has to do with the ECM or just dumb luck. LMOAO!!

I contacted the company -(well known and trusted)- and they are sending me another ECM with the STOCK program. They want me to install it and see if the codes go away. If they do go away, its a problem on their end and they will do a re program or replace mine with one that has a good program.

If not, then I guess its just bad luck everything went bad at the same time...

Are you sure you fully seated the ECM connector? Also you didn't say if the engine starts and runs okay, that can be important information.

Car starts and runs great. Great power and stops fine. Just a bunch of codes and dash lights.

I am waiting on the new PCM with the stock program on it. That will tell me if its a problem with the car or with the PCM program.

Ill let you know in 3 days when I get the new PCM.

Humm, the ECM is a central part of the vehicle network. It sounds like the other network devices are ticked off. Most of them depend on ECM data for some mission critical function. When they don't get the data they get very unhappy. Chances are it might be tricky to get everyone happy again. I'm sorry I can't predict what might happen with the replacement ECM. You may need a scantool to clear codes, do any setups and run crankshaft position learn. Scanner

Took the car to the dealer. Learned that the On Star diagnostics is not worth a dam. When the dealer checked the car, they couldn't find anything that On Star was saying wrong with my car. They cleared the codes as could not duplicate.

I picked up the car and it was great. Got home installed the aftermarket programmed PCM and allmost immediately the check engine light came on. Called the aftermarket programmer and they said get Pepboys or Auto Zone to read the code and ship them the PCM back.

More to follow. When I get the re ... re programmed PCM back and in the car. I thought this was supposed to be easy!!!

IF you are getting the traction control and ABS warning lights, you may be in luck. I had the same thing not long after I installed a new ECM. I swapped back to the original and took it in to the dealer. There is a TSB for this problem, they reflashed the EBCM (electronic brake control module) and the problem is GONE. I will try to find my old posts with TSB number and other info.

I already had the EBCM re flashed for the TSB.

Unless the new ECM screwed up that program its not the issue...

I suspect the replacement ECM is screwed since the stock one has no issues.

Did the dealer tell you the DTC numbers before clearing DTCs? This is very important info. You need it from all CMs. Because they couldn't find the problem is not nearly as important - if you know what I mean. Scanner

Codes were all related to when the battery died. Dead battery was caused by the On Star module not going into hibernation. R/R- new one installed and working properly.

I learned the hard way that a Dead battery means many of the electrical componets (brake and fuel related) will cause codes that will be stored in the PCM.

Car has a new Optima battery because the stock one was Crap. Cleared codes and everything is working properly with no codes. Issue was not with the program...

I want to thank everyone for their input and help. Off to the Dyno this weekend...
