I was able to get the 3 closest to the cabin and one of the lower ones. the one bolt on towards the front of the car was easy to reach but i couldn't get enough room to turn.

i'm going to take off the manifold heat cover and look at the other screws soon. maybe tonight.

238: I was thinking that, but from what I hear people say, exhaust leaks just sound like chuffing, and my first videos were that way because of mic distortion. The latest sounds more like these two videos:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lgKX4ihtxs#t=13s

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke6Y1dMe7F4&feature=related

That sounds heinous! Hope you figure it out!

Okay,
to my ear yours doesn't sound like either of the other two, sort of a fluttering sound, perhapes the diaphram vibrating?

The first one of the other two is a broken finger in the clutch being picked up and thrown around be rotating clutch and pressure plate.

The second one is an installation gone wrong,  something is not properly aligned or torqued.

The only diaphragm I know about in our cars is the BOV, so I'll assume that is what you are referring to. I figured that is a very small rubber thing that couldn't make a noise this loud, and because it's rubber I didn't think it would make a metal hitting metal ish kinda sound.

BUT on the other hand, it's easier to reproduce the noise now that I've put the the stock spring back compared with the harder Dejon spring. Forgot that I changed the spring...

BUT when I log I don't see any major change in boost or air related stuff when the noise happens... If it was leaking boost wouldn't the logs show something?

The only thing that's been touched recently is the downpipe, and that crap is rock solid to the turbo, but maybe could be loose from DP to catback. I haven't gone under to check that recently.

I am pushing a lot of boost. So maybe even the Dejon spring can't handle it. Trying to remember if I'd heard the noise ever after the Wester's but before the downpipe...

Best way to find this noise would be go to go the dyno. But I wanted to get my issues fixed BEFORE I went :)

Oh also I am still getting the P0236 code, so maybe it is the BOV. The code only happens when I push the car hard and cause that noise. And limp mode will start the next time I drive the car. Maybe it's just the wires being f'd up like everyone else. But I saw on one of Elff's posts that the message with his code is

P0236 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance

Mine is different:

P0236 - TC Boost System (Old) (Immature)

Well, talk to Lyndon and have him come up with a "stock" cat delete tune. Have you even tried the stock tune at all? I'm sure it'll throw codes for the cat not being there but it may help to clear things up.

The second one is the same noise I have, but mine is not consistent.  Only happens at wot and only with air on, but noise is exactly the same.  No codes so please let me know when you solve it.  If I get with Joe and critter, I know they will figure it out if I can make it happen.  Just that either we have all been busy or it's just been too darn hot to go out.

Does that noise only happen when you engage the clutch to move the car?  Does it happen when you just rev it sitting there.  Check the bolts on your catless dp under the heat shield.  15mm.

The noise is not related to clutch engagement, it does not happen when I rev.

It only happens under high boost. It's gotta be the BOV since changing the spring changed how easy it is to recreate the noise.

What's strange though is that when Elff got the same code, the description it gave to him was different than mine.

His:

P0236 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance

Mine:

P0236 - TC Boost System (Old) (Immature)

Mine is an 07 his is an 08 I think.

My son had a rattle like that and it was his heat shield bolt.  I know that doesn't help with the code.  If you reset the code does it come back?

It comes back everytime I push the car really hard. About 5 or 6 times now. If i baby it, no code.

My turbo cover is tight. I just put it on a few days ago.

F0CKING DEALER.

They kept my car since Tuesday. Waited a few days to get the purge valve which I told them would fix the problem. Then Today at 4:45, a Friday I call for the 4th time today trying to get a status update.

I talk to the service manager, he says something about they didn't do anything because there is no cat. Then someone else jumps on the phone, says, the car is not under warranty because there is no cat, the entire emissions system is not under warranty. I start to debate with him that no cat has nothing to do with it. Then I ask him what was done to the car that it's been there for 4 days, he says, we've just diagnosed it. I said how much time have you spent on the car, he says 2 hours.

Says that because I cleared the codes the solenoid is working fine as if the code would cause it to break. They didn't do the smoke test.

Then he says, oh and by the way your car is out of warranty anyway because it's 3 years old. Bumper to bumper is over, and drivetrain warranty doesn't count emissions systems so we're going to charge you for the time we've spent on the car.

I said, the car has been there for 4 days and no one told me it's out of warranty. He said ok, pick it up and they'll be no charge.

So a wasted week. I should have done it myself those mother fockinging assh0les.

Is there a phone number for GM customer service? This dealer is terrible, it took them 3 visits to fix my highbeam switch.

I'm not even buying the parts from them. They don't deserve the insane amount they are marking up the parts, even if it's only 15 bucks.

Kenny, just saw your post on the other forum. Saturn of Union are morons!

GM is well aware of it because I made sure they knew. How do you think I got free 12 months / 12k miles of free service and oil changes?  They thanked me for my patience and understanding.  :)

Don't ever go there again!

Good to know. I need to find where that is written down somewhere. Thanks for letting me know.

Actually, I have a question, is this a separate warranty just for the emissions system, or is it part of the drivetrain warranty?

Critterman, you probably also know that the catalytic converter on all '06 Solstices is covered by GM for 10 years or 120,000 miles.

This is one of the reasons I never went to an after market cat.

Ok so my bumper to bumper is expired as of January 2010.

I asked a service manager at another dealership if the emissions and EVAP stuff is covered and they said no. Which is directly against what Critter just mentioned.

Does anyone know where I can find proof?

Ok so I put in the solenoid today, wrote a little description on it incase other's have the similar problem.

http://www.kappaperformance.com/forum/index.php?topic=5018.0

Drove around and the car felt good. Filled it up, didn't have the problem. But, the issue tends to happen when the temp is high, and it wasn't that hot today. So we will see.

Did some logging, I can recreate the noise all the time. Just waiting for the code to pop again. My poor mans boost gauge shows me hitting 30psi occasionally.

I'm going to solder the wires to my MAP sensors this week just to be sure that has nothing to do with it. But I wanna drive on it around a bit and see if the purge valve had anything to do with the boost issues, insanely unlikely, but it's surprising that the car has been fine since popping that new one on today and I drove the car really hard today for the first time since the track.

The Cat is the ONLY thing covered for the 80K miles. In other words if your catalytic converter was plugged up the dealer has to replace it free of charge.
