Yikes, bad end to my day.
« on: September 21, 2010, 07:22:08 PM »
Beautiful day for the top down so I forgot I had a quart of new mobile one on the side of the trunk.  I put the top down and it would not go all the way into the trunk.  Instead of looking, I gave it a good push.  Take a look and you will see the peg on the flap that folds down on the top..   You guessed it, that peg went right through the quart of oil.

What a mess!

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm ..........................

D'OH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just so you may feel a bit better .............
Saturday the KC SCCA Region had a school for rookies. There were 30 students and 12 of the more experienced folks as instructors. It was a looooong hot day. REAL bad weather was moving in at about 4:30, and in the scramble that everyone was doing to collect up all their stuff, I walked up to a friend and asked him if had seen my straw hat. He looked up a bit, my eyes followed his, and there was the brim of a straw hat. Senior moment.

BTW, it is fairly easy to remove the trunk liner, but do not forget to disconnect the trunk light. The liner seems to be a paper product, so you may be able to sop up all the mess.

No damage from Oil But I do have a cream color of Polish in the Carpet .I figure when I added oil at Joe's last Monday I put it back and flipped the lid on the wax . 1/2 of it in the little resess was wondering what the smell was.   :banghead:     :gaah:     Chit Happens then you clean it up.

Well, honestly, not on my Solstice, but in my past; I have forgotten to replace the oil filter or the oil drain plug and put the oil in just to see it all over the driveway. I forgot to replace the oil filler cap and had oil spray all over the place. I have drained and cleaned my radiator and forgot to close the drain plug. I have left tools under the hood and tried to close the hood and it would not close. Just a few of these and your situation is not near as ignorant, stupid and dumb as mine.

Hey Chuck - Those of us with old British roadsters recognize the concept of oiling the body parts. We call it rust prevention!

Bummer, you didn't need the extra oil anymore anyway...  You'll need to pull the liner and wash it good or get a new one.

My wife and I did that with a bottle of hand lotion. Put a hole in it and it seeped out into the trunk. We still laugh about it.

One of my colleagues had a bottle of wine rolling around in her car. You can imagine what happened with that! She smelled like a wino for weeks.

When I saw you had a bad day I thought you may have wrecked your car, a little oil in the trunk is not so bad as that.

:sorry: My brother, are you okay?  I have a carpet cleaner if needed.

Since we are telling stories on ourselves............. :idk:

This summer I went to Lowes to get supplies to do some work around the house.  One of those was a gallon of bright white paint to do the front of the house.  Pulled up to the curb in front of the house got out of the truck and opened the back door, only to have the can of paint fall out to the ground and explode.  Got paint all over the frame, body, inside the door, on the seat, on the tires, on the neighbors car, not to mention the curb and gutter.

got it off the neighbors car, got most of it off my paint, but it is still on the frame, tire, leather seat and door trim.

Yikes John, that is worse than my experience.  Couple more truck bills and you should cancel the cruise and take a vacation in my basement.  It is cheaper and you can make your own bed.  I mean literally, there is no bed down there but I still have my tools and some wood from when Joe was doing the basement refinish.
