Open your hood and take a picture of your engine bay
« on: September 24, 2010, 10:57:11 PM »
If you have changed or added some colour to the engine bay with paint or powder coating I would love to see it. I want to powder coat my charge tubes, valve covers, coil cover, turbo and so forth but I'm not good at visualizing what mine will look like.

Trying to come up with a colour scheme for under there and I'm not sure what colours to do so I would like to see what others have done.

Thanks!
Just trying to do my part...

Wow!  Great minds think alike?  I've been looking into getting a consumer powder coat setup for myself and thinking about painting much the same things.  I'm figuring either just straight chrome, or a metallic orange to match my Brazen car.

The problem with powder coating in "chrome" is that it's really just a shiny silver and doesn't really look anything like chrome. Yeah I was considering doing mostly body colour as well...

:D Maybe we do think alike!

The only custom pieces that I have under there now is the stainless steel coil cover and the fuse box cover that SHEZOOMM made me.

I'm also deciding on the "look" I want under the bonnet. My chrome GMPP CAI on my NA has served me well and I liked the shine but for my supercharger mod I am going with a black tower brace(understated cool),black powdercoated valve cover, MAYBE yellow charge tubes (match my body colour) and a chrome DDMWorks coil cover. I intend to lose all my exterior chrome (door handle, badges, rims ect) but some flash under the hood might work. Just knowing I painted my tunnel brace red bugs me and I hardly ever see it. I will have it done in black this winter. I would also like to see more options so please pop those hoods and let us take a peek. Thanks .... Tall  P.S.  I hope you had a great trip SlyBob!

hammy221,

Tell us please about the two mods under hood involving the upgrade to SS from plastic.  Looks like you replaced the brake fluid reservoir and I'm not sure what the other is that is sitting where the windshield washer fluid container is on stock.  Thanks.

Yes agreed... but it does look like polished aluminium - which would be the effect I was going for anyway. As I have been looking into it, there are many "chromes" available too, in different levels of polish/reflection.  Another option that could work is 'black chrome'.  Hmmmm

I have always liked that light up coolant hose.  Mind sharing how much yours was?

I wanna square mine away before I show it.  :sorry: Perhaps after I move the PS and put on the new brace.  Right now the driver side is all Dejon up to the TB and the other side is stock.  And it is not clean.   Do have a nice  DDM filter, GMPP sensors, and red Optima battery.

Kuprito - I like the cam cover in semigloss.

I haven't done much to my Solstice except some DDM intake tubes - the horrid crimping of the stock items just offended me.

My favourite engine bay shot still includes carbs (and lots of them) I'm afraid!

What happened to your covers? Did you take them off to help get rid of heat?

For those who have installed the MRZ caps what is your thoughts on these for fit and function. Any chance of these coming loose and falling off, and would you do over again ?
