How strong are the internals of a 2.4

They are not as strong compared to an LNF engine which is meant for boosted application.    I won't go past 300whp to be on the safe side.

Tony from ASAP digital (famous for his BULLRUN SOLSTICE), built his 2.4 engine with sleeves to get around 500bhp:  http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f64/block-sleeving-2-4-ecotec-59970/

Very strong. The Ecotec has been stout since they hit the market. And there is a LOT more stuff available for the 2.4 than the 2.0.

Although there are more aftermarket parts for 2.4.......  LNF engine aftermarket internals needed are now available as well such as rods, pistons, valve kit, and rocker arms.

Even billet crankshaft can now be made by K1 technologies.

This PDF has a chart that compares the different types of Ecotecs and what parts break at what power levels. Many will argue it is conservative and I agree with that, but it's a good reference.

Evidently GM switched to a weaker rod on the LE5 in 2008.  Here's a thread from the BB about it:  http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f64/factory-le5-connecting-rods-please-read-66445/

I just wanted to let those of you who are interested know that I have gone for the DDM Stage II kit. After a long talk with Powerfab Automotive here in Houston(He made this turbo proposal for me)  we came to the conclusion to go with the DDM. For my goals and the way I drive, Jeremy thought going with DDM would be a good choice.

I'm in the process of having this done now and really looking forward to the final product and mods. I hope all goes well and I believe it will!! I'm doing business with two FINE companies. I feel lucky!! :)

I want to thank Norm's Fiberglass for producing a beautiful rear fascia for me.Thanks Norm!!

As soon as I have some photos of this work I will start a new thread.

I want to thank you ALL for your comments and opinions!!

Photo of my fascia at Norm's before he sent it. VERY NICE!!!

you can't go wrong with DDM parts :)

but my question is, why did u choose stage 2.......not stage 3?

you'll be upgrading your internals still, right?

Thanks Antonio,

I went with the Stage II at this time because I believe that getting around 250 WHP would be fine for my goals and for my driving habits. Dave and Jeremy both suggested that I first go this route and see if it is good for me. When I need more I can upgrade it later.

The internals are staying as they are as of the moment.

SKY888 and Arabas,

I gather by internals you are referring to pistons, pistonrods and etc?

right?

Yea, the internals are going to stay as they are. I will consider upgrading them at a later time.

My car is only driven three weeks out of the year because I live and work  in Munich.

since you'll be keeping your stock internals, I guess DDM is right.   Stick with stage 2 to be on the safe side

But I'm not sure, somebody corret me pls..........I thought even with Stage 3, some were running stock internals?

In my discussions with Dave about going with the STG.III he never mentioned anything about changing the internals.

I know you are right on this , others have posted and pm'd me with the same advice.

Understand , my intentions are not to push my sol often to the limit.

Just want to take it to the next level.

But you're right about the temptation of wanting more.

But first things first for me. I'm looking forward this!!!

I just dont want you to experience what I felt when I got my GT3076r.

After 4 months, I'm like........"shiiit, I should've gone with GT3582r!!!"

I was hesitant to go with the gt3582r at first since I'm scared of the lag.

But with the stage 2 and stage 3   DDM superchargers, the only difference between the two is horsepower!   Both will have the same ....no turbo lag :)

You're in good hands with DDM!

They're always available, if your mechanic/you have any questions about the SC kit.

DDM has the best customer service out there, hands down!
