negligible or not...there is still basically a row of fins missing because of the size issues.

How negligible....nobody knows, until somebody test them.

what will you choose?  I'll definitely choose the top one.......due to more surface area of fins :)

The weld seam will not do the function of the fins.   No air will go through that seam

Fins are there so air can go through them.........and remove heat

Like many subjects that are discussed on this site, there are the "yes it is" and the "no it isn't" sides that will never agree, facts be damned.

So I suggest we all agree to disagree and leave it like that, or we can do another 5 to 10 pages of "yes it is" "no it isn't"

peace!

Very true. The difference could only be measured if they were both tested. I would choose the solid core vice the two welded cores just on the aesthetics alone. I don't like things to look "half-assed." I'm not saying the the latter is a badly made product. I can understand why Werks chose to offer it as an option. However, I would wait until I could get the "pretty" one.

The welded version....will still do the job.

It will still be a great UPGRADE compared to the stock IC.

The quality of the build is nice......and even the weld was proper and looked good.

for some people, the discounted version is a good deal.......

So Kudos to WERKS.........who gives more options to the KAPPA community! :)

Enough. If people have an issue with Werks, take it up with them via e-mail or phone. Assumptions (right or wrong) are just that without hard verification. "Calling out" someone or some business is to be handled with a bit more ...... tact. Let's not kill this thread.

That said, some of the observations may have merit. Werks has stepped up to answer some concerns, AND seems to have dealt with the original complaint with their wallet - commendable. The "finer" points that remain can be worked out between the two parties. If "upper management" feels that I am out of line, I am sure I will hear about it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap:

Bob,
Dave (Werks) already said there is no loss in performance, he is the Vendor.
Mathematically speaking the 2 cores are the same, meaning volume.
People should  not shoot from hip and talked about something negative without having empirical data.

Yes you are correct LV, we still retain the same number of fin rows regardless of the type of IC.

I am delighted with the attitude Werks is having.

They are sending a new non welded-no logo intercooler to me with no charge and (very important for me) they're sending the new unit before I send them back the one I have fitted right now.

Thanks Dave.
