Vredestein Ultrak Sessanta tires, I believe are based in New Jersey.

great tires

You don't want to try NT05s? :)

Very close performance wise...all of the reviews on the Vredestein tires were great and I LOVE the tread pattern on it...looks menacing.

cool tread pattern indeed!  That's what made me researched about those tires actually.

But if you like cool tread pattern, check out Nitto INVO  :)
They're pretty cool too!

but I always like the NT05s performance, so I stick with it.....

have fun on your new wheels and tires!   They'll look awesome on your car!

Thanks....just FYI...they recommended a +45 front and +34 rear offset.

Late, but this should help the forum.

First, what do you mean by rubbing? Almost any wheel will fit the solstice without rubbing if it has the right offset. The thing is by going with a lower offset to get rid of rubbing inside the wheel/tire may stick out from the fender wells noticibly. And wide wheels such as 9.5 inch + are likely too wide to fit within the wheel wells and not rub on something inside (i.e. they will stick out from the wheel well with 275+ tires).

So what is the right offset? Wheels are different in design so this is not a simple answer. The general finding by many of the forum with wide wheels is that the front actually fits easier without rubbing inside than the rear.

From what others have reported 9 inch wide wheels will fit on all for corners of the solstice without rubbing inside and fitting inside the wheel well with the right offset. It is in the +50 mm range. I've confirmed with an owner that a 18X9 with 275 tire width on the rear can rub inside without the right offset. And spacing the wheel out with spacers or more offset will quickly put it outside the wheel well.

The lower offset numbers given to you above don't make a lot of sense. They will cause a wheel to stick out farther and with a wide tire you will basically guarantee the combo also sticks out from the fenders in an ugly manner (and possibly illegal, depending on your state/province laws).

I am just about ready to change my wheels...I am getting a little bored of the ones on there and decided on the Forgestar CF5.  It is their newest wheel, is lightweight, looks fantastic, and has either a semi or deep concave option.  I will be getting them in paino black with a thin red line around the outer ring (like the picture).  I want to run 19" in both the front and back...19x9.5 in front and 19x10 in the rear.  The offsets available are the following:

19x9.5 offsets from +10 to +50
19x10 offsets from +16 to +56
19x11 offsets from +29 to +69
19x12 offsets from +42 to +82

They also can drill in the 5x110 bolt pattern.

My questions are the following:

1. Will I have rubbing issues?
2. What offset would work best on the front and back?
3. What size low profile tires can I run on the front and back?

Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Steve

Thanks....just FYI...they recommended a +45 front and +34 rear offset.
If you're going to runs such small tires those offsets are pointless, the rims are going to stick out, you can bring them in a lot.

For the front 9" rim i would recommend 55mm offset, for the rear 9.5" i would recommend 40mm offset.
You'll be able to fit a 275 up front and a 285 out back, if you're going with smaller tires you might be able to go with a slightly higher offset.

This calcs are all based on my 9" wide oz rims with a 55mm offset and 275 wide tires.

I spoke with Forgestar again today and they decided to go 19x8.5 in front and 19x9.5 in rear, with a 50 offset for both.  Should fit a bit better without sticking out.

Steve, howcome you didn't go with 19x9 in front?

then run 275 up front and 285 at the back?

Dude im running 18x9 with 55mm offset up front, there's no fitment issues there with 275 tires.
Stop listening to discount tires and forgestar and listen to people on the forum, and ditch the staggered setup and go with same sized rims/tires all around so you can rotate them easily.

yeah, shabster has been running 275s square set-up w/ his 18x9s :)

I'm done with staggered, and also running square set-up now too.   Even with 200 treadwear tires, it becomes economical since I can rotate them now :)

Steve, I'll call you now.....

Well Steve apparently likes the CONCAVE look at the rear, so he really wanted to go with 9.5" wheel since that's the minimum size to get a concave wheel at the rear.

It will look sick with that concave wheel  :)

Shabby, With your 18x9x55mm offset wheels don't they stick out farther than the stock wheels?
On willtheyfit.com it shows you would need a 65mm offset wheel so you would'nt stick out further than the stock setup. 245/45-18, 18x8x55mm offset stock vs. 275/40-18, 18x9x65mm
offset upgrade. Do you think the 65mm would create rubbing problems?  Am I reading the
willtheyfit site correctly? Jerry

No they fit just fine.
9" wide rims with 275 tires on a 65mm offset would rub like crazy, i can just stick my finger between the frame and the tire with a 55mm offset, i get some minor rubbing during hard cornering but thats it. That's why a 50mm offset on a 9" wide rim with 275 tires would be the optimal setup, if you go with a smaller tire you'll have some extra room between the frame and tire.

Seriously looks like a great price if they are anything close to advertised prices:

http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=forgestar+f14#hl=en&safe=off&q=forgestar+f14+18&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbo=u&tbs=shop:1&source=og&sa=N&tab=wf&biw=2304&bih=1146&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=32a50269f61b1532

I still just am in awe...  All these years...  Apart from super-high-dollar custom wheels we just haven't had an option in 5x110 with any offset close to flush.

My final plan would have been some Work Emotion Kai's.. but concave F14s look GREAT.

forgestar is the way to go, as long as you know what offset you want to use........

custom wheels get sooooo expensive, unlike forgestar which is nice since it is flow-formed :)

Close desk305. In reality a 55mm OS 8 inch wheel would stick out the same as a 67mm OS 9 inch wheel on the car. But this won't work because a 67 mm OS will put the 1 inch extra rim width on the inside of the car and this will cause the tire to rub the frame.

A 9 inch wide wheel with 55mm OS (same as stock) will stick out a 1/2 inch wider than stock. 1/2 an inch more on the inside, 1/2 an inch on the outside. The stock wheels/tires do fit inside the wheel well a little ways  so this extra 1/2 inch will work. With Shabby's rubbing on the rear I would go 50mm OS which moves it another 5 mm outside. By his pics it will fit barely in at the top of the wheel well and should remove any rubbing issues inside at the frame.

Shabby, With your 18x9x55mm offset wheels don't they stick out farther than the stock wheels?

I know that its not the front that has the issue.....that's why I run 18x10" on all corners :)

anyways, that's what I recommended Steve on the phone..........run 9" front....and 9.5" at the rear.  He might end up rolling the rear fenders tho......

I am going 19x9 in front, 19x9.5 in rear...going to roll the rear fenders just in case...and going with a 50 offset on both.  I should be OK with this setup, according to others experience and I can run wider tires on the front for more grip.

Hey Antonio, you ever get yours rolled?  I remember just that one pic of the F14s when they seemed to have a LOT of protrusion - really curious to see how well the shops are doing with our fenders.
