Fidanza flywheel
« on: March 21, 2011, 11:13:19 AM »
I could NOT believe the price, but I ordered it anyway.  AutoPartsDealer.com has the GXP/Redline Fidanza 159201 flywheel listed at $142 SHIPPED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The order was confirmed and will ship tomorrow. Crazy, huh? Cheapest I have seen it on e-bay or anywhere else on the WWW has been about $300, and list is about $450.

BTW, I have confirmed that the dual mass flywheel weighs 29 pounds, and the Fidanza weighs 12.5 pounds (per their catalog).

Also, when I was poking about on e-bay there was a 10% offer, so after I found a Spec3+ (SAC type) clutch kit, it was $524 shipped. Yippee !!!!!!!!!!!!! Considering that this a grand worth of stuff, I just HAD to pull the trigger(s) on this. The fun will diminish when they arrive and I actually install these goodies.

Well, I don't have to deal with a) exchange rates, b) international shipping, or c) VAT or other taxes!!

Considering the package price on both Spec pieces, and the 3 factors listed above, $1300 would seem about right.

SOB,
That is a great deal!  So good in fact, I might order one and install it on my automatic.  It should help my quarter mile times I would think?

Just kidding.  But anyone close to replacing their factory clutch should look at this.  Saves about 4-500 bucks! And saves 15 pounds or so.
Make the right choices now

Bob you dirty nasty dog!!!! How did you get such a deal ! Like Kelu, I payed full price! However, mine was installed at no extra cost, so there. O.K so my engine happened to be out of the car during my rebuild last year .  Someone screwed up that posted that price! Anyway, I am happy for you and I know you really wanted that flywheel for a long time.

Well, we live and learn. The (not so honest) folks at AutoPartsDealer.com had a pricing error on the flywheel on their web site. I sent them an e-mail to confirm the price, and also asked them on the phone, and they verified it. It was ordered, the order was accepted. Wednesday I received an e-mail stating the order was canceled. I called them to hear that the reason was the discontinued. Fidanza confirmed that the flywheel IS available. The reseller could have called me to state that they HAD made an error, but lied instead. Had they told the truth, I would have paid a higher price that we both agree was fair, but not now. NOW, I will "share my thoughts" with them today, and proceed to continue "sharing" on forums and where ever I can find a "review" option. People make mistakes, and honesty has its rewards while dishonesty has its own special reward.

I would comment further, but will not, except to say that they are not too smart. Typical internet site - LOTS of stuff listed, NOTHING actually stocked, and no brains behind it other than to have somebody create a web page and list stuff. Simple - one or two people, and a phone.

SOB, they are obliged by law to sell you the part at the price you bought it online, no matter if that was a mistake or not. they have no right to cancel your order.
so if you want to push it, you can go to the bureau for protection of consumers and file a report against them if they refuse to deliver it to you at a reasonable time frame and at the price you bought it online.
At least this is the case in Greece and it works 100%.
i know it coz i am in the IT online shopping business.

damn that blows!

sorry for the bad news SOB.

Anywho, why don't you just stick with SPEC flywheel?

I know that you're MAIN reason before was we all thought that only Fidanza FW has replaceable surface plate and not SPEC.   But we know now that SPEC's FW has replaceable surface plate as well.

Regardless of the boning referenced earlier, Fidanza wheels CAN be had for $295-300. Still working on it. At this point, if there was a Spec for $300, I would buy THAT.
