Evolution Performance Driving School

Awesome!  :D

Yesterday I completed the Evolution Phase One course hosted by the SCCA Ozark Mountain Region. It was great! Lots of seat time, I did 27 runs (one redo - timer malfunction). A very good school, the instructors were great :urock:, very positive, very knowledgeable and very adept at articulating the technical aspects of performance driving. Plus it was just fun hanging with them and the other students. The weather was perfect, sunny, 82 F with a steady breeze.

The biggest surprise I got was just how smooth and fast the instructors could pilot my 2.4L Sky around the course. During the morning session after the instructor made two runs driving the Sky he got out and starting shouting to the other instructor how much fun and grippy the car was. He said it felt like it had R compound tires on it (it’s got Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tires). Needless to say he was impressed with the Sky's handling. Later in the afternood, the second instructor agreed it was a “grippy car”. Anyhow, I’ve got a lot of learning to do to drive the Sky as smooth and fast as they did.

It was a good day, a peak experience for sure. :)

It is a highly recommended course, even if you don't plan on racing.

and that was for a full day course(26 laps) with your car? or did it also include driving in a training car?

I'd love to be an instructor, you'd get to drive a lot of nice cars!

i know what you mean...
i wish i were a car press journalist..they also drive all types of cars, plus the harder they drive them, the better job they do :)

It's good price. This school is specific to SCCA Solo II racing (autocross), parking lot racing with the course marked using orange cones.

I was at a local Solo event in KC today. One of the people here was in Neosho, Mo. for the Evo school Phase 1 yesterday and was commenting on the huge improvement some guy in a silver Sky had shown during the Saturday session. WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I know who it was. I am sure that Ag_Sky had the benefit of Andy Hohl and Tim Herron as instructors. GREAT guys, both.

As for spending hundreds of dollars a day for a Solo driving school, this is simply THE best money one can spend. If the opportunity comes up --- DO IT.

My wife (in her coupe) and I (in my GXP), JimmyBaja, Gxpsyrose, Rogue all too that school last year and it was awesome!!! 

I think we paid $250 each and had about 24 runs.  We all used our own Solstices...  What a blast.  You should have seen Dee drifting her Coupe!!!

I also attended Evo phase 1 & 2 this spring.
What a blast - I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to see what these cars can really do.

Here is a video with me from the phase 2 course making a few runs 'solo' after several with the instructor - lesson for the day "look ahead" - lol

Many things still to upgrade on the car, and this is the process of upgrading the driver!
