I think I have decided on a head unit and would like your opinion on it.

Currently, I have the full Monsoon system.

I was about to pull the trigger on that unit and decided against it after getting to play with it.
Sony's are normally pretty good, and TomTom's have great GPS.
I was disappointed with the interface and controls.  It seemed laggy and you had to navigate through multiple levels to get to things that I feel should be at most, one menu sublevel away.

As much as I dislike the garmin in my Kenwood, I think the Audio/Multimedia is much smoother and better laid out than this model sony.
As such, I decided to just keep my Kenwood and use my iPhone for GPS when needed.

I hope that helps you somewhat.

I have a TomTom (use in my truck) and it may be my model but the thing I dislike the most is when I do a trip, I can only use one additional wavepoint.  That really stinks when you want to cruise the back roads or take an alternate road than what TOMTOM recommends.

I have had no experience with the Sony unit, but I use the Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT and really love it...it's not laggy and the navigation has been great so far.  I know a few others who use Pioneer as well and have had good experiences.

I currently use TomTom on the windshield with my iPhone and want to get rid of that and upgrade the stereo a little bit.  The navigating through the menus is something that would get better once used to them I am sure.

Previously I wanted a large capacity HD, but decided against it.  The bluetooth to the phone for audio and calls seems to be the driving factor here in addition to the TomTom, which I like.  Too bad DeLorme refuses to make a head unit or portable phone version.

I can also stream audio (60gb) from my home NAS drive via the phone 3G to the unit without issues.

I have a Tom Tom GPS. I have used a Garmin also. I prefer the Garmin. More detailed on the street directions. Turn here and turn there. The screen and audio is better IMHO.

I use the Pioneer X930BT in my Sky and I also helped my business partner / friend install one into his Solstice.  Interface is quick, animations are smooth, nav is flawless and features lane guidance and some other nifty features.

The big one is the Ipod / Ipad app integration.  You can stream videos from youtube and netflix through the unit as well as control Pandora and Aha! Radio directly from it as well.

The Kenwood 7180 is also a fantastic unit as Kenwood finally upped their preout voltage to 4 from 2 volts, eliminating alot of the personal concerns I had with their products, especially when tying into an amplified system (hello alternator noise).

hmmm, I say go for it, I probably know someone sitting on this side of the keyboard who would be interested in your 930 if the price is right.

I have never been a fan of Sony in car stuff, or Sony in general. Too many people I know have problems with them a few weeks after the warranty expires.

Somehow I totally lost the bubble on this and thought superco06 was changing units.
