update, I am indeed burning oil, and while I start the process of talking to Pontiac Customer Service (they called me while I was on vacation, regarding my survey response for the foobarred head gasket etc work), I am also following up leads on replacement 2.4 engines. From the source I found, 2007 is the 'magic' year, way too many totaled NA Solsti in salvage yards everywhere. Looks like the average $ is about $800, so once I locate the one I want, I'll begin the search for a shop to do the swap. Until then, will keep a few quarts of M1 and a funnel in the Sol, and check the oil every fill up. Rough guesstimate is it's burning up a quart every 700 miles or so.
