Boost leak from popped line of analogue boost gauge

Since i found and fixed the problem, i can laugh about it now...
so, this will be a quiz (if you don't mind, i will change the title after the brainstorming).

if you have a moment to spare and to think a bit about it, pls write what you think my car's problem was

i was driving the highway and a Subaru Forester Turbo with a woman driving was right on my tail and wouldn't let go.
sure i went crazy, let her come side by side and stepped on it just to smoke her one time after another till she had enough (XXX km/h)
i soon got off the highway and came to a complete stop just to notice that my idle was at 1000rpm. stepped on the gas a few times but the problem remained. also the rpm were not dropping easily when i let my foot off the gas.

checked my analogue boost gauge and it showed 0 psi when i stepped on it.
my dic was displaying coolant temps at that time and temps were OK. no CEL. car felt it had power even though i decided not to WOT till i got home safely

i started something like " this  :censor: car", "i am selling it", " :mad:", " :censor:"

i had this idea of what could be wrong and i tried something while driving that showed me that the car had indeed power. got home, idle was still at 1000 rpm.

fixed the problem easily and i decided no to sell it  :woohoo:


so, what do you think had happened?
what would you check first, second etc etc?

I think you sucked up a bag and clogged your intake.

Either that or your girlfriends head was stuck under the steering wheel and her hand was on the gas pedal?

You blew the line for the boost gauge off and ended up with an intake leak which caused the high idle RPM.

I think SA is close, you blew a line or a tube loose and had a vacumn leak

Had that happen on my Ford truck and IM like OH Shat I cant stop as I almost rear end a Focus.

 I think a vacuum line came off or developed a leak and raised the RPM level .

Vac boost line popped off the analog boost gauge causing it to read 0 psi when in boost causing a slight vacuum leak thus raising the idle speed?

SA, Critter, 1LILNDN, and Tazz nailed it!!

you can add this one to the list of your overseas diagnosis!!!

since i have the analog boost, i have my DIC always on coolant temp.
when i saw 0 psi on the analog gauge, i turned the DIC on the boost gauge mode. it showed real boost.
so i thought the analog boost gauge line had popped off. popped the hood to find that was indeed the reason.

boost leak from the popped line of the gauge.
put it back, tightened it with a zip tie. idle back to normal!!  :yay:

easy fix, reasonable diagnosis. glad i didn't get too pissed to throw the car off a cliff!

so, slightly raised rpms at idle should be a syptom of any simple boost leak.
