Canadian, now living in America since 2004. Have this gorgeous tempermental beast in my garage called Shebop. I'm learning more and more every single day about it too. I must say, this car is FUN to drive. It growls and spits but let's me be in total control. I have a 2007 GXP I bought last month, manual with shiny chrome wheels and low profile tires (I think they're called Vectra..not sure) .. I should look and remember that, eh?

Anyway, I'm female, married and have two dogs and two cats and my other vehicle is a Honda Odyssey (another beauty)..now, if only the temperature here would go down about 20 or 30 degrees, I'd be smiling. I can drive with the top down, but only early in the mornings. I can't wait for autumn and winter actually, then, I'm on the road, soaking up the fresh air and warm sun. This is my first convertible too. What a hoot this thing is! Love it.

Ok..I don't know what else to say here, so...

Culture shock ain't close to it, lmao! AND..I do not like mexican food. I was spoiled living in Montreal and find it hard to find food I really like. Thank god for the Outback. :)

Seriously, Montreal is a beautiful city with a decidedly European feel, and excellent food!

I'm sure there are few places in TX that have decent comparable food if you dislike Mexican!

I live near Lubbock and sure..tell me where it's good. :yay: I've tried Stellas and liked it. The Outback of course. Someone told me It's Greek to Me was good. Haven't tried it yet. Wouldn't mind an east indian restaurant that is good and chinese too. No poutine here. I make it myself when I'm in a junk food mood ;)

Cool. I have not been to It's Greek to Me, but have also heard good things. Mediterranean Lite Bite also gets very good reviews. Texas Roadhouse serves a good steak. I don't eat a lot of Chinese, preferring more Thai (Thai Pepper and East Moon both serve good Thai food, IMO). I have NOT eaten at Sri Maharaja (east of Slide Road on 80th) but have been told it is also quite good Indian cuisine.

You said you don't like Mexican food, but I might suggest you try "Salvador" which serve _authentic_ Salvadoran food. It's a little "hole in the wall" place southwest of town.

Caprock Cafe makes good burgers and Home Cafe makes EXCELLENT food, basically "comfort food" (chicken fried steak, quiche, mac&cheese, stews, etc.) with a menu that is different every day, depending upon what fresh ingredients are available to the chef.

I'm glad you enjoyed Stella's. Our first meal there was excellent, then they served my wife semi-cooked pork and a pitiful excuse for pizza margherita. We have not been back.

If you want to dig deep in the wallet, the Double Nickle Steakhouse makes a great steak for $$$. :)

Try the Chicken Fried Steak or the BBQ. If you don't like that kind of food you might just be out of luck commonly known as SOL.

Chicken fried steak is gross and I have not yet found any cheese curds where I live. I make my own poutine and put pepperjack cheese cubes in it. Not bad at all. I like brisket sandwiches and ribs and chicken on the bbq...I'll be hunting the next time I'm in Lubbock (Probably next week or so and hopefully NOT at Frank Brown!)  :rofl:
