I would ask after the new engine is in place.  This is the wife's car that doesn't get driven hard correct?

Good point, Critter! Don't want to give them any ideas. However I imagine the cylinders walls must be damaged...  Yah, this is the wife's car and she rarely gets on it so I have no idea why hers and not mine??? She also had ~10,000 les miles on hers and a very large portion of hers is highway miles while most of mine are in city conditions. I mentioned earlier my cylinder compression was 150 psi across the board +/- about 2 psi.

Her car did have that problem (about 3-4 months ago if I remember right) with an oil orifice being blocked somewhere on the upper part of her engine that was forcing oil out of the turbo seals. So now I wonder if that problem caused some kind of oil starvation damage inside the engine or when it got repaired something was not put back correctly.

If low oil pressure resulted from the problem above then that cause damage to the rings and probably to other parts of the engine.

She's Back! Picked up the wife's redline this morning and brought her home. I did not get to see the damaged parts since the engine had already been sent to GM for further evaluation. The parts that failed on pistons #1, #3, and #4 were the collars between the top two piston rings. The largest piece they found was ~.5" maybe a little less. The only "good" piston was #2 but they said it was on the way to failing also. Total bill was just over $6,000.00 so thank God for the 5 yr/100,000 mile warranty! Any thoughts on breaking it in?

Drove around town some today and the temp. stays in the 215-225 range. I think there might be an air bubble trapped in the coolant system.
