Did this while I was at DDM's Open House. While I love Norm's viper hood, the lack of a hood liner and the subsequent increase of perceived engine noise, has always been a bit of an annoyance to me. I bought some aircraft grade material to line the hood. Bobby, 1 LIL NDN, provided some assistance and some pointers. Using some brown template paper and blue painters tape I cut out patterns for the sections I wanted to cover. I then traced out the patterns onto the hood liner material and cut them out. It came out to be 4 individual pieces (1 for each side and 2 for the middle). I also cut out 2 small squares in the liner to accommodate the sticky backs I used for the underhood lighting wire loom routing. I applied the 4 pieces to the hood using Permatex all purpose spray adhesive and cleaned up any overspray with brake cleaner and a clean rag. I then used a heat gun to "pre-shrink" the liner because it is a synthetic fiber felt (the material was very soft and "hairy"). The heat gun "shrank" it down, hardened it a bit, and sealed the edges. Unfortunately, Gwyneth is still at DDM's shop undergoing repairs and I have not been able to test how effective the hood liner is in regards to reducing underhood noise and vibration. At the very least the liner gives the hood a more "finished" look, IMO.
