Looking good TS. What's the cost for parts as it's something I might look at for the wife's Malibu.
Just trying to do my part...

passed state inspection today (4 yrs old)
at first they gave me a hard time saying that the CO is too high and that i have no cat. showed it to them, but they said it was de-cat (i have Solo dp with hi flow cat)

then the car was too low to pass over the above-the-ground protective barrier of the ditch... the plastic that directs air to the radiator would hit the protective barrier
they said it won't pass inspection and that i should take it elsewhere (state ispection center that run as private company and reporting to the state)

went to the manager.
he said i had to take full responisbility for any damage. he said if anything happens during the test (car driven by his personel) is MY responsibility and i have to pay. if i didn't like it, i could leave (i had already spent 1 hr waiting)

next thing i remember is 2 employers holding me back and my hand an inch from the manager's throat, while i was speaking in "french" and punching the walls and building doors.
the manager run away to hide in the building while the employers calmed me down and we worked a solution (backed it up above the ditch instead of going over it on 1st gear and then had someone in the ditch to hold the plastic from below so as not to touch the barrier. the CO "issue" somehow was history !     ???

maybe the initial plan is always to create an "issue" just to make the customer happy afterwards by bypassing all the problems and becoming my buddies by overlooking the "issue" ??? maybe they initially expected some tip??? but they weren't expecting a short guy going mad, bad and dangerous to know (believe me, we short guys can be very scary when we go mad, just because nobody is expecting this to happen - elff can second this)

this m%$@# F%^$@ manager even said that the owner of the car is responsible for every damage his employers do to any car during the test. that drove me absolutely crazy.....

anyway, 1st state inspection passed...

Kelu, i pay these f&^ers 50 euro to do a stupid 5 min inspection while i sit on their lounge watching TV and drinking coffe. and instead i have to put up with them wasting my time, insulting me and laughing at the face of common sense, while it's ME who finally gives the customer (ME again) the solution, instead of these "professionals".... (laugh)
next time i will have you come with me, just to scare these these bastards in advance ;)

Hey Bob, moving past the Arabas "Greek Rage" incident... You can get both the camera and monitor from DealExtreme, pretty darn cheap.  The monitor is $23 and the camera $19.  They have bigger monitors and a host of different cameras too.

last night i painted the center caps of my new wheels, matte black (they originally were chromed). sanded them and sprayed them. since it was too difficult to remove them i carefully painted them on the rims (thank God i didn't  paint the wheel :))

still trying to figure how to place the ones on the rear wheels since they are not deep enough...

Today, I ordered a new vacuum/boost gauge and the Kiwi Wifi.  I also purchased the the REV app for the iPad.  It's pretty neat so far and I really can't wait to use it with the Kiwi.

Yesterday I installed DDM's Oil Catch Can.  VERY easy install!  Can't wait to install the rest of my stuff from them.....

well, NOT something i did to my GT, but something that made me angry (not worth to open a new thread IMHO).
i visited my sister who owns a brand new VW Scirroco, a car that i really like, only to find out that some f^$@# as&^@^ had keyed her car ALL around and i mean both door, trunk, hood, fenders....

i hope i will be lucky enough to catch in my hands the &^$@#^@ who did this.
then he will know how it feels to have a foot inside his a$#@*le

Yeah, happened to me with my (then new) VW GTI many years ago.  So f**ing frustrating that some one would be so incredibly moronic (?) to do something like that for no apparent reason.  Gaah!

Similarly, and more recently, happened to my Sister's Honda Fit within a month of being new.  Why?

Anyway, just finished my homebrew circuit board for my next project on my car.  Used a draw program to create the PCB tracks and circuit layout, then laser-printed onto glossy paper and ironed-on to the copper-clad board.  Turned out pretty easy actually!

Photos of the track etching in progress (Muriatic Acid + Hydrogen Peroxide bath) and then the layout "silk screen".

So who can guess what it's for?

Heh!  Good ideas all, but I'm afraid it's a little more mundane.

It's going to be a multi-level controller for my seat heaters.  Never liked the look of the kit switches or the just two levels (too hot and not hot enough) of the basic heaters, so I'm replacing the switches with modified Honda (scrapyard) backlit push button switches.  The controller will register how many times the buttons are pressed and then activate solid state relays in an 3 second on-off cycle to modulate the heat.  In theory I could go to many levels, but  I'm only extending it to 3 levels - Lo/Med/High - with Red/Blue Leds in the switches being turned on - blue/purple/red - to indicate the level chosen. There's also a config function so I can adjust the on/off cycle for Lo and Med levels on each side in the car to adjust how I (or my wife) likes it.  I've already written all the code in assembler (it's been a looooong time since I wrote code) and that was great fun.

May seem like overkill for a microcontroller, but these chips are so low cost, ~$2 for the 44A, and they contain all the driver circuitry, it was actually the cheap way to go!

Bob, I probably will solder in the chip for physical security.  I kept the in-circuit programmer header (the six-pin box at the bottom) so I can load or update the program in situ.

This is the icon I'll use on the switches - note it's a Kappa seat silhouette!
