I'm sure Red Bull is sandbagging big time in practice. I hope to see Merc do better, as well as Lotus and Caterham. But this house will be rooting for Jensen as usual :)

Okay
F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1 F1

There. Got THAT out of my system.
1) Ecclestone sucks.
2) Too many aero devices.
3) Ecclestone sucks.
4) I thick Schumacher is fantastic. And, he should retire.
5) Ecclestone ......................................                                      sucks.
6) Bring back refueling and cut the pit staff by about 75%.
7) Have I mentioned Bernie?
8) Limit total team personnel to more moderate scale. The size of McLaren and the other big teams is absurd.
9) and Ecclestone ............ oh never mind !!!

I can't fault a guy for building an empire on something as exciting as F1.
Sure beats the Kardassians.

I can't wait for the season to begin again.  I think Mclaren is going to be more competitive and it will be interesting to see what changes Ferrari has done.

It will be interesting to see what F1 is like when the old bastard takes his dirt nap.

I think there should be less rules. Let the teams do whatever they want.

CAN NOT be serious !!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at what they do WITH rules. There will be second chassis (ala Lotus 78), air sucker motors (ala Brabham BT46), and qualifier engines with stratospheric HP like the 1.5 liter grenade 4s with 1100hp. The ONLY other race cars that have acceleration Gs like an F1 car are fuel funnies and rails. Ridiculous.

Yeah I think they should over regulate the hell out of it and make it so boring that no one really cares to watch it.  Then they can install horns in all the cars that play Dixie and make the cars only turn to the left.  Oh wait I think maybe they already have that, I don't remember what they call that racing it's not really worth watching so I don't.

WRC is heavily regulated. And not boring.
Australian super V8 racing is heavily regulated. And not boring.

It's NOT regulating - it's what the regulations are. Can-Am was nearly unregulated and looked what happened. The old Trans-Am was not heavily regulated, and enforced poorly, and look what happened. Take away the regulations and F1 would die.

Well I for one enjoy watching F1 more that other motor sports, British touring is a close second.  Don't give a damn who is in charge or how they are regulated as long as it is fun to watch.  Don't care if any Bob takes a dirt nap or not.  Once it is no longer interesting I will care.

I am certainly not saying to take away ALL rules! But I think they shouldn't have so many rules about reliability and being fair to smaller teams.

There's so much more strategy at play when you build a qualifying motor that doesn't have to last.

I bet when there were Turbos vs NAs on the field at the same time it must have been exciting. Two completely different strategies of engines and you could choose, each which excel at different types of track and different portions of each track.

If there was no plan for "smaller" teams, there would be McLaren, Ferrari, MAYBE Renault, and Red Bull (as long as people buy that stuff). The rest? Gone. The field would be eight cars deep. Lower the dollar threshold, and there would always be teams ready to compete.

As for Bernie, look how he treated the situation in Austin. There was a North America exclusive that he violated. Nice.

There is a cost to have a track in F1.  If Austin wants to play, they need to satisfy the requirements.
That situation is more of too many cooks in the kitchen than Bernie.

FIA was aware of everything that was going on, and initially gave complete approval to move ahead. The NJ popped up, and ... well ..... Bernie is Bernie. BOTH venues will be good, but I really REALLY want to watch the broadcast from NJ.

Just watched today the first race of WTCC (FIA World Touring Car Championship), pretty sweet to see Chevy Cruze destroying the european cars on a european race.
http://fiawtcc.com/

Do you like those kind of races?

PS. I'm not off topic, I just can't watch a F1 race in last 5 years without not getting into a sleep.

I don't know jack about rally, but I would guess that they have a lot more variable surfaces which adds to the challenge. And I don't think Aero plays as much of a factor as in F1.

Over here they say "racing is rubbing". In Europe they redefine "rubbing". Even in vintage racing. When you see a Ferrari GTO bumping into other cars at Silverstone, one knows they are SERIOUS.

You should see Sebastian Loeb, and his peers, drive. TRULY amazing. Jaw dropping.
