Intruder is Complete....for now....
« on: August 22, 2011, 03:01:51 PM »
I finally got the car back today from the body shop.  They were a bit held up by a hail storm we had about 2 weeks ago.  The car looks fantastic.  Below is a list of what was done to the car, followed by some pictures.  Any comments are welcome:)

Shop: Newbridge Auto Body in Bellmore, NY
Fabricator: Vinny
Body Shop #: (516) 781-0487

Completed Modifications:
  • Rear Fenders pulled out about 1"
Norm's Race Bumper pulled to accommodate wider rear fender
Norm's Side Skirts Molded into the body of the car
Forgestar 19" CF5 Wheels installed in black with carbon fiber center caps
Continental Extreme Contact DSW Tires installed
DDMWorks "Longer" Wheel Studs for larger wheels
Calipers painted red to match stripes on car
    Rear Bumper painted black
    Lip Spoiler painted and re-installed
Front recessed grill repaired and painted
Norm's Lip Spoiler repaired and repainted
    LatinVenom Chassis Brace installed

The LV Chassis brace improves turn-in and is an excellent addition for the money.  I used to have the DDMWorks cross bay brace, but had to remove it due to the location of the BOV for the larger turbo.  I loved the DDM brace as well.  Both are outstanding and do what they are advertised to do.  In addition, the new, larger wheels have lifted the car slightly higher off of the ground.  This is perfect for me, as mine was a touch too low before and now I do not have to play with the coilover height.  I am looking forward to taking it on the MASSC run this weekend...enjoy the pictures:)

Looks awesome.  What did he do to accomodate removal of the front fender with the Norm's side skirt blended in.

Steve Intruder looks just awesome and yes intimidating!  It looks bad ass from the rear, front, and side.  You will love the Continental Extreme Contact DSW tires, love the look of the rear fenders and the Lip Spoiler and Red Calipers really dress it up.  That is one SWEET Ride dude.  You will get plenty of stares down the road, uh, just Sweet Indeed! :drag: :brnout: :usa:

I saw the title "The Intruder is Complete" and I immediately started gathering bottled water, ready for the end of the world.

Then I saw the "for now" addendum.  Panic over.

HA HA HA HA Thanks guys...Joe the fenders are blended into the entire rocker now...my father assured me he could help get the battery out if need be through the top.  I made sure.  I don't know how Vinny from the body shop did it, but it looks like it came that way from factory now.  My only gripe is that I wish the rear fender were about another 1/2" out.  The tires are really wide...the rim sits inside the fender, but the tire is about even.

Why do I have the feeling that Steve is going to ask us to change his battery at the next Maryland Mod Meet  :banghead:

It does look good though Steve, I like the wheels a lot, and looking forward to seeing it.

Well... there's always the "pull it out past the wheel-well liner" method. :)

AMAZING.  How did you pull the rear fenders?  did you use the actual fender-roller tool?  Definitely want to do that and get a more aggressive offset on the rear wheels like Intruder has.
it looks FANTASTIC.   Great choice for wheels, Forgestars are very light and durable.

would you mind posting more pictures?

Well... there's always the "pull it out past the wheel-well liner" method. :)

This is the method I've recommended. I had to help a poor chap in the Advance Auto Parts parking lot change his out. The young kid, employee didn't have a clue what he was getting himself into. So, I stopped and guided their effort. Advance Auto (at least that one) now knows better than to change out a Kappa battery for free.

Definitely the way it should be :)  Wish you could lower it another inch or two for a pic....  Looks great!

I agree.. take a crapload more pictures.

edit: Oh, excuse the potentially noob question but did you need that rear bodywork to 'finish' the fender pull or did it turn out ok prior? Forgestar really seems to be the best option for something light weight in our bolt pattern with an offset that will fit flush with the fenders... I'm just trying to plan out as much concavity as possible in an 18x8.
