VCM Suite 2.23 Beta?
« on: August 30, 2011, 12:51:26 PM »
Hi Folks,
Lyndon just sent me an update and I loaded everything ok. But I was curious, my  VCM Suite 2.23 software is "beta". Meaning a beta screen warning pops up whenever I start it. Is this normal or should I get a Non-beta version?

It's been about 2 years so I'm out of the loop

Cheers;

Beta is normal, is beta since I bought it in Jan 2009.

Check with HPT to get latest build of 2.23 which has the new things in it (fuel pressure table)

I just got a copy.  Cd came with version
2.23.207

Can I upgrade that, or is it a complete uninstall/Reinstall?

Also
besides emailing support, is there a download location?

You can go over to HPT and email Support and they will send you the link to DL the lastest Beta version.  You will need to send them your HPT serial # and possibly a new application key as well.
Not really sure there is alot if any difference for us between  2,23,207 vs 2,23,404 but I just prefer the latest Beta.

Naaah, you are just lucky  :poke:

I can vouch for HPT customer support, I had an issue with my firewall and it was a weird behavior only after an update and they succeed to nail the reason even they had to connect to my laptop.

Is anyone on here actually doing their own tuning?

I'm still datalogging to fine tune my STFT.  I haven't even found a need for the increased fuel pressure.  I am on the stock turbo though.

I'm at the point where it pegs the boost meter on the spike, and settles down to about 21-22psi.  A little timing, a little on the intake cams.  From what I've found, the exhaust cams seem about just right.  Any deviation seems to only hurt, at least on my car.

I'm not, just observing and learning.

I played with the lambda and timing on dyno, no other changes on my tune with my own hands.

Quick question
has entering a custom PID changed in the latest version of HPT.
I was trying to add the PID to use Shabby's LNF config and I never get the line for Function????

It was late, but I swear I was doing everything exactly how the video was showing it. I just didn't see a section for Function to add the PIDs

Are you sure he wasn't refering to the config file?
The config file needs to be setup correctly to log the correct parameters.   If im logging something different than the other guy then there can be issues.   Ask dave which pararmeters he want you to log and have him send you the config file he wants you to use.

You have to play around to do it correctly.  It took me forever to set my user defined correctly but I just did trial and error.
<[PID.XXX] -/+/* [PID.XXX]>
You also need to set the units and the Min/Max the name and be sure you also have the individual PID's in the Table.   Every Parameter you log HAS TO BE IN THE TABLE or else you will get UNSUPPORTED PARAMETER.  Then you have to set it up on the Graph or Gauges.

I saw that but you have to put
<[PID.XXX] -/+/* [PID.XXX]>
on a line that says function and I'm not seeing that.

In the HPT for Dummies thread, shabby points to an LNF config here
http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showpost.php?p=210287&postcount=38
and states You'll need to add these 2 custom pids.

Boost: Sensor - Manifold Absolute Pressure
Function: [PID.11.PSI]-14.5

LTFT+STFT: Sensor - none
Function: [PID.6]+[PID.7]

So I watched the following help video
http://www.hptuners.com/help/demos/Creating%20and%20Adding%20a%20Custom%20PID.swf
but some of my screens look different that what is being shown.

And that is what I am not getting on my screen which prompted me for my question
I know that is where I need to put [PID.6]+[PID.7]

Do you get the same looking screens in version 404?
If so, I am doing something wrong which is most likely the case.

Yup I have it.

Open up the scanner.
Select the table view.
select an empty field on the table view or one that has a parameter that you will not use.
Right click on that empty field.
Select insert.
Double click Configure User Defined.
Tab down to a Undefined listing.
Right click
Now you should have the string field at the bottom.

I figured it out
Adding a custom PID is a little different than the video so I was in the wrong area.
