What chairs do you have in YOUR trunk?
« on: August 31, 2011, 11:43:50 PM »
Looking to purchase a couple chairs that I can fit in the trunk of the car when we go to a car show or something. Don't want to get a $10 camping chair like the one pictured below as they aren't comfortable.

[attachimg=1]

The Kermit Chair is an option but it's pricey. She is a beauty though and made in the U.S.A.
What are you using for a chair that you can get two of in the trunk with the top down?

Unbelievable, hey Bob, that is the same exact chair that we take out to the Chiefs games at Arrowhead Stadium!  I believe we paid $10 bucks each for them way back but after a few beers you don't notice the comfort anyway!  Carol bought them way back cause they were red like the Chiefs uniforms.  They do fit nicely in the back of my wife's green 1998 Mercury Villager that now has 213,000 miles on it.

Yeah I don't want the red chair on top as I have a few of those now and they're awful. Can't sit in them for long.
There HAS to be better options.

If the car show is on the grass John a blanket would be a great idea but the local show is on asphalt in a mall parking lot so a blanket wouldn't work there.

Perhaps shop around and try different manufacturers of the chair shown first in your post.

I have bought various versions of the first style chair, and materials and construction quality definitely vary amongst the ones I bought.

I have a pair that I got at BJs a number of years ago.  I'm sure they were much more than $10 a piece, but the materials and therefore the overall strength of the chair is better, and they have lasted several years so far.  I have no problems with comfort when I sit in them.

Bob, you are correct about the comfort, but at a Chiefs game, uh, it's the Chiefs and lately they have not been to good so after a few beers at half time in lot C, you really forget about the comfort level, but the nice thing about the winged monster is it matches the Chiefs colors and folds easy into a rather compact sleeve ready for the next game, really quite portable!  However, the main feature of the chairs is the cup holders that accept the fountain drinks and beers!

Coleman is what you want.  The one I have is at LEAST 10 years old and I *had* a recliner one with a foot rest and pillow until this year.  I cannot find a similar chair right now but this is the closest.

Thanks Excelsior for the posting of the portable recline chair!  It looks comfortable for sure, may have to check it out further prior to Chiefs season.

Except that I already said I had 2 chairs in my trunk for our entire trip... both of them fit in the well, and I used the top portion for luggage.

Were they actually in the 'trunk' (the long space covered by the hatch)?  If so, those sound like great chairs to have!

Those Amazon ones don't appear to be made as well a they were 10 years ago if you read the reviews on that page.

The search continues although I do like the Kermit Chairs but I wish they were't quite as pricey as what they are.

No, seriously.  Since I am having no luck finding my chair, this(the one below) may be a good replacement one if I ever need it.

I will try the image attach thing now.  Here is my chair.  All tags are off so I do not know a model # or anything.

That chair looks pretty good and the fact that it's rated for 400lbs, it had better be well built. The solid aluminum arms would be just the ticket.

I usually keep one like this:

http://www.rei.com/product/783556/kelsyus-mesh-backpack-chair

It folds smaller than most "cloth" chairs, and has "backpack straps" and is very comfortable.  I weight 210+, but I will admit that it might get overstressed woth regular use over 250.  But I love this one, and my better half got one for her Mini Cooper too.

Have you tried Cabela's? They seem a little pricier than you are looking for but they have some nice options.
