Kind of interesting
« on: September 19, 2011, 12:53:33 AM »
The other night I flipped back to the stock GMPP tune to some logging on the stock tune.  I had not taken screen saver mode off my Laptop so when it blanked to the Windows logo I tapped the pointer pad while driving and HPT's DTC readiness screen pops up.  I try to get out of that screen and must have tapped it to clear the codes and set readiness to zero.  Of course my FT's went to zero but I also noticed something strange that the stock tune boost limits where not there for about 3 min.  Before that time I was boosting around 17psi then for 3 min after I did the accidental reset while driving I was boosting as high as 26psi on the stock tune with Limp mode engaging and no CEL and no KR showing.  After the 3 min window everything was back to normal and back down  to the boost limit.
Now that's Interesting.

it must be a malfunction of the communication between the device and the ecm when the laptop gets in to sleep mode.
trifecta strongly advises to avoid sleep mode of the laptop when tuning or datalogging .
probably because it has something to do eith it

It wasnt in sleep mode just screen saver after 5min.
No malfunction since it did keep logging without a skipped beat but did register where the FT's zeroed and the cam angles zeroed also.
I logged the whole event and nothing bad showed on the logs everthing was fine just not the stock GMPP boost limit.

I think that is the relearn for the ECM.  It needs to readapt to fuel type, pressure, atmosphere, etc.  It pulls all (some) info over the first three minutes.

My 2 pesos.

You are not crazy. I've switched tunes 100 times. To and from Westers GMPP to Stock GMPP. Sometimes I go back to stock and I will get only 15 lbs of boost, keep driving, then I'd get 18, then 23. Keycycles affect this as well.

Also I'd go into limp mode, restart the car, and then it wouldn't do it anymore. And I'm pretty sure I'd get more boost than I expected a few times as well when going back to GMPP. It's hard to remember. But the moral of the story is: This car does some f'd up shit when you play with the computer, but eventually it will fix itself, you just gotta drive it.

I have a 2007, I'm on GMPP stock tune. I'm not sure if it's GMPP that has caused these problems since I never played with aftermarket tunes until after I had GMPP.
