Yes, all by myself.  Fortunately, I have access to the base motor pool which has a lift!

It has been a pain, but I finally got the turbo out.  The nut that holds the lower bracket is seized.  I was actually hanging on the wrench with my feet off the ground trying to get it to turn.  Needless to say, it's in the beginning stages of being stripped.  I removed the bottom nut and took both the turbo and bracket out.  I even tried putting the nut in a vice and turning the turbo.  No joy.  If all else fails, I'll have the maintainance guys heat it up with a torch tomorrow and try it again.....

Heat and PBBlaster.
Actually if you can get that Krysol or whatever the hell it is called.  That shit is awesome, but just be aware, every spray kills a baby seal.

Kroil.  Great stuff...and baby seals are overrated anyway.

Time for one of my favorite jokes

A Baby seal walks into a club.

[Insert Cymball crash]

Yea that Kroil is insane.  Spray, come back in 5 minutes and the bolt practically jumps out.

Yeah right, I'll just pop down to the local Koraen market and ask for some...

Got it off with WD40, a heat gun set on high for 15 minutes,  a pair of vice grips, and a 3 pound sledge. Came right off after the 12th strike. I have to replace the nut, though.

I also cross-threaded one of the mounting bolts.  This has not been a fun install so far. It's definitely not for the faint of heart!!!  I'm done for the night, time for bed.  Hopefully I'll get it finished tomorrow evening....

Can I assume everything has arrived or are you doing this in stages? More power now, better clutch later?

Good luck with the install.

Still waiting on the flywheel so I'll just take it easy on the power until it gets here and I have it installed.

Def,
Judging from the tuning runs with Dave today and my first 100 miles on the car you will be very happy with the upgrade.  :tool:

Now back to the regularly scheduled updates from Go-N Def on his install while in Korea.

OK, so I FINALLY got everything installed.  It was a PITA with all the seized nuts and bolts!  The instructions left a lot to be desired too (Needs more and better pictures), plus the kit was lacking a 3/8" T connector.  I drove all around town trying to find one.  Not an easy task with the language barrier!

The problem now is HP Tuners.  I had beta version 2.23.234 loaded which would accept the DDM tune, but wouldn't access my car.  It wouldn't even do a "Read" in the flash section.  I went on the sight a loaded a previous version (2.22.xxx) which will access my car, but won't accept the tune.

Does anyone have the link to the latest and greatest beta tune from HPT?  I need one that doesn't give me the .Net Framework 2.0 conflict since I'm using Windows 7 64bit...

This mod has been a nightmare!

I have the latest Beta if you need it.  You can also email bill@hptuners.com and support@hptuners.com to ask for it, and they have always had it posted up within a few hours for me.

I have .NET Framework Version 2.0 installed.  Even tried reinstalling it but I get an error message say that I have it already as part of the OS.

I tried loading 2.23.3616 but got the same error message from there saying that I have to install .NET Framework Version 2.0.  It's a vicious circle!

I even tried loading it in Virtual XP Mode, but got the same error message.  It's getting ridiculous.....

Next step will be e-mailing Bill.  If that doesn't work, I amnot responsible for loss or damages reported to my Renter's insurance!

Just don't throw the laptop, you haven't had it that long.

Ended up removing .NET Framework Version 4.0 from my laptop which allowed me to load HPT 2.23.3616.  I can open the DDM tune with it even after reloading 4.0 back onto the laptop.  As soon as it finishes defraging I'll walk down to the motorpool and try to load the tune into the ECU....

It worked this time.  It was a little tricky though.  I had the hood open for so long the lights drained the battery.  I used a charger on the battery long enough to load the tune.

Lessons learned:

1. Load the tune first, before you start work.
2. Be prepared for seized bolts.
3. Buy a 1/2 meter length of 3/8" rubber hose and a "T" connector since they weren't included in the kit.
4. Use the stock washers when connecting the oil and coolant lines.
5. Have a good set of regular and deep sockets and a full set of open ended wrenches.
6. Have some extra DEX-COOL ready to top off your coolant resivior. I lost a LOT during the install.

Now I just need get a few miles in and retighten a few connections...

Yeah, i don't know what it is with this car but every time i get to work on the exhaust side i'm dealing with something seized.  I had exhaust manifold studs snap just removing nuts.

Glad to hear it's all in.

Glad to hear you got it going.
FYI- Bill@hpt responded to me in minutes both times I sent him an email.

Its really important that you have a fully charged battery when flashing the ECU.
Morfius had a hellof a time with his due to that.

That wasn't the cause.  I had the charger on it the first time I tried it also.  Editor would recognize the car, but wouldn't let me access it saying that too many log-ons had been done.  Scanner connected fine...

As far as e-mailing Bill, I was going to, but as 1 LIL NDN stated I ran into another case of Murphy's Law:  The day I went to e-mail him, the website posted a note saying that all responses would be delayed due to them going to SEMA for 2 weeks!  Story of my life!
