New SKY Owner - 07 Black Onyx
« on: December 02, 2011, 07:18:36 PM »
Hi, I'm Bottoz and I like cars. I just picked up an 07 Sky Redline... 33k miles.. a little rough but fixable (dealer is installing a complete new top next week.)

History of previous cars:
2003 Mustang Cobra, Kenne Bell Supercharged

Ariel Atom

2008 MINI Cooper S

1984 Porsche 944 SPEC

Sorry, no pics of the Sky yet. But, they will come! I just added winter wheels and tires... got a great deal on Tire Rack. I plan on getting a tune for it... and more than likely the mod bug will bite. I have a few questions that I'll ask in the appropriate forum. Where should I ask about Interior questions/problems?

So... HI!

Of your 5 cars listed, DDMworks supports 3 of those. I suggest you get to know him and all his products ;)

Cool! Thanks! DDM is on my list... as is KappaSphere (Shinoo - We met at Atom Fest back in 07.)

So... questions is: My Sky has Cloth Seats. Can I order the Leather Seat Covers from any online GM parts retailer and I assume they'll slide over the cloth?

Miller - I thought about selling the cloth, and looking for leather. But, GM-Parts Center has quoted me $210 for 15942918 & 15854409. Shipped. All I need is someone to tell me they'll fit and/or slide over my cloth and I'll click ORDER.

*EDIT*
AH! Disregard. I see that that is just for the seat bottom... I'd also need the seat back. ... and the research continues...

While I haven't worked with the cloth seats yet the leather ones are real easy to remove and replace.  I believe that the seat frame and foam is the same so the leather covers should install without a problem.

Like others have said ask JPM they will know, you might just want to ask them how much for a set of custom leather seat covers too.

And a little inside info on the GM leather seat covers they aren't all leather only the "seating surface" is leather the rest is vinyl, and I think GM should have "seating surface" redefined as "as small an area as possible."

Was just going to say this. If the seats were in great condition Id trade the all black ones for cloth ones if the distance wasnt so far. And while these seats hold alright, less slipping around with cloth seats.

Welcome to the club and thats a nice car list. While not a mustang fan myself, I will admit the cobras were good cars.

Leather seats, JPM Coachworks out of Atlanta.  Not cheap but custom made.  In fact any leather work you want, they are the one to talk to.  There are several tuners for our cars, I'm partial to the DDM people in SC, as they were the first to build what I want and have excellent customer service.  You are a bit away from them but both JPM and DDM travel to local mod meets.  So all you need to do is look at the right side of the board, pick up your phone and have your credit card handy :)

If you get the stock leather, you need to remove the cloth and replace with the leather.
I added heaters to my seats and it's not that difficult to do.

Welcome aboard.

Nice collection of cars, how many do you still have?

Even if you didn't posted initially pics with your sky you had something which stopped me to post my favorite smiley:
 :ttiwwp:
Maybe because I loved the other cars of yours?  :idk:

The hunch is real, I knew you will be one of my new favs new commers and you proved it with your latest replies.

Let's start:
1) 6000 ft??? where do you live? Himalaya?
2) who tuned you?
3) Do you remember what boost you were running with stock calibration when you did 233hp? Seems a little bit low 23psi on that altitude, but this shouldn't sound as something bad, but something more towards conservative!
4) Do I read correctly? 19psi at 5000rpm and 16psi after 5500rpm after tune?

Loved your black Sky    oh and I liked your previous reply, dyno before and after, with afr and boost plots seems like you know what you are doing.

Advices:

1 - 6000 feet, 1830 meters, Colorado Rocky Mountains.
2 - Local tuner. He's done many, many cars. His latest accomplishment is a 500hp/575tq E-85 GT-R. Again, at 6000 feet and on a Dyno Dynamics.
3 - Stock boost is in the 2nd graph. 17 with a spike to almost 20. But my DIC would always report around 17. We added a T to measure boost at the intake manifold.
4 - Looks like 20PSI @ 4900 RMP pre tune, and 19.5PSI @ 4900 RPM post tune. 16.5PSI @ 5500 pre tune, 16PSI @ 5000 post tune. The temperature was warming up as the day went on. So, take that into consideration. But, the pre/post HP numbers show HP gains. We have such less air up there... the turbo can't keep up at higher RPMs.

Thanks. And I totally agree... the Cat will go bye-bye soon. I have a DDM Backbone that I still need to install from Christmas. It's just too cold to lay on the garage floor right now!

Our ECU works differently, if you are at high altitude, stock tune which is 15psi from factory or 19psi with GMPP tune (sea level) should show more in your case, this ECU commands based on tq and not based on pressure. That's why I say your tune looks mild, something like just a little bit better than GMPP.

Yes. Mild it is... I told him I only wanted to see about 23-24psi, and that's what he tuned it for.
