Not to detail, but doesn't someone make a kit to put a normal steel can filter on the ecotec? I hate these little paper filters.

Umm, that's a relocation adapter.  Miller is talking about using a piece of thin sheet metal with holes punched into it as a filtering membrane.

Why?!?  Paper, and particularly "synthetic" fibers, filter far better (better flow to size of particulate filtered), and can hold more particulate, before "clogging" and reducing flow compared to sheet metal with holes punched/cut into it.

I think your wrong. He is referring to a normal spin on filter, not a mesh screen...

In any case, the part you posted would not allow him to simply screw on another filter as an adapter could. This is a relocation adapter, not a steel can exterior filter adapter.  They make adapters for those as well.  Why not get that instead of a relocation adapter?

They make billet ones like this:



And you basically order the cross-hatched portion that mates up with the engine block, i.e. diameter and thread pitch, and that's about it.  This one has the metal mesh filtration type filter medium in it, but I've seen ones where instead of a billet portion with a metal reusable metal mesh filtration medium, a canister filter was threaded on instead.

See that black gap between the top cross-hatched portion, and the bottom with the engraving?  That's another rubber o-ring as the bottom part threads onto the cross-hatched part, and you could basically unscrew the filter portion from the adapter portion.

ECO as in LNF/LE5?  Considering it's a common component across many platforms, i.e HHR, Cobalt, and beyond, I'd be surprised if they didn't.

never had any issue

I typically like OE filters, changed are recommended OE service intervals.  I do about 15K km a year.  And do my oil change every 10K or so, which is about how far I seem to get to drop my oil life indicator to about 15%.

I have a tune, but stock turbo and everything.  I figure using a better oil than recommended/required/Mobil 1, in AMSOIL, and changing while the oil life indicator is still around 15% based on the Mobil 1, and the filter is being changed at 47% recommended for the same filter, I've got plenty of safety room.

I pulled that off line, mine are burried in the shed, they are a drop in not a spin on, even though if you go to RockAuto and look at it, it shows a spin on.
