High-Flow CAT Gasket?
« on: August 09, 2012, 01:09:45 PM »
I'm getting ready to install a new high- flow catalytic converter and was told just to use high-temp RTV for the gasket at the turbo. I picked up some copper high-temp, but it doesn't seem like it would withstand the temps. Any first hand experience using this? Any issues?

The Copper product you picked-up IS a High Temp sealer..... It was recommended to me by Werks when I bought the High Flow cat from them.
I used about 1/2" bead on one side of the flanges and married the two sections together, seems to be doing its job with not problem.....
Good Luck!

Got the thing in finally... I hope I didn't scrape off too much of the gasket material feeding it up to the turbo. Couldn't see it very well and there was definitely some left behind. I reeeaaallllly don't want to do it all over again. We'll see tomorrow afternoon when I fire her up.

Sorry to post this after your installation is done, but it is made much easier if you remove the HVAC intake box.  Two or three nuts to remove and the whole assembly slides out of the car.  Gives much more access.

*note : have not done this myself, but have it on good authority it works.
Make the right choices now

Didn't think of that. That would make it easier. Good tip.
