What are the symptoms of the clutch getting ready to kick the bucket? Besides the car not moving!

Maybe I should ask what are the beginning symptoms...

here's a couple:
1) rpm's going up and mph staying same or less 2) burning smell

65000. And I drive with a fairly heavy foot. And I might have added a Trifecta tune....

I refer to it as engaging the clutch slower so as to make the shift between gears smoother. I may have ended up putting a glaze on the clutch. I've heard aggressive shifting is less stressful. Don't know if that is true or not but it kind of makes sense. Of course it would put more stress on the drivetrain...

Clutch lining glazing and failure comes from slippage and heat build up. Drag racing shifts will kill one pretty quick, as will allowing any slip at any other time such as shifting. When it is fully engaged, it doesn't wear.

My technique could use some work...

I probably did most the damage in the first few thousand miles. The last time I drove a manual was in 1985.

Do you stand on the clutch at stops? In my experience that will wear out a clutch much faster then if you put it in neutral and let the clutch out.

Not all the time but I often do. I tend to fidget between holding the clutch and putting it in neutral and if it is a long redlight I might go back and forth several times. Maybe I'm borderline ADD? That would be interesting if true. The clutch thing not the ADD...

It would wear if you don't have it 100 % disengaged. You could have a very light contact and not even know it.

You know, sometimes when I shift between first and 2nd, such as at a stoplight, it feels like the car moves ever so slightly so you might be on to something there. It doesn't do it everytime but certainly does sometimes.

Your causing wear even if the disc is 100% disengaged however the wear will be to the pressure plate and release bearing.

Is this adjustable? If I install a higher performance clutch (or even a stock clutch) I don't want it to wear out any sooner than necessary.

nope no adjustments. It is self adjusting hydraulic clutch

How is that? Quick shifts engage the clutch fully. I have over 100 trips down the drag strip, daily driver and still on first clutch

Full throttle shifts allow slippage but the main wear is getting off the line.
We almost never wear out a disc in road racing.
