Status seat install
« on: February 19, 2013, 07:12:01 PM »
Hello, Im just ranting a little as we figured out how to install them into a customers car that were getting ready for World of Wheels show in Chicago.

You would think it would be a straight forword bolt in, LOL. I got no directions or pics had to get bolts. To be safe got hardened bolts and nuts, someone else may just get standard which for a seat I wouldnt think be a good idea. And of course no mention of what to do with the passenger air bag sensor, which at this point I think have figured out. Sent an email to Status for help, the reply was almost humorous.

Quote, "These seat are pretty straight forward. The side mounts will be bolted to the seat the seat sliders will be bolted to the sliders and the seat bases bolt to the car with the factory hardware. Then the sliders bolt to the base.

There should be hardware in the sliders box and the only thing you will have to provide is a connection to either the slider to the base or the slider to the side mounts.
Let me know if you have any more questions."

No factory hardware. Aside from my little pissy rant, overall the seats are OK seat higher than I like (Im 6'1") look good and seem to have that Cool factor. So now I feel slightly better, best part is that I can do them a whole lot faster now. thanks Norm LOL

I would have to go with grade 8 hardware when dealing with seats and safety equipment. Not sure what specific grade you got. Glad you got it figured out though.
I'll probably be calling you soon about some Sky sideskirts, but want you to leave the grill pieces off so that I can install them later. I'm thinking of carbon fiber skinning the skirts for a little bit of a different look.

Hello, and yes youre correct. I read where you were thinking of doing that to the skirts, Im having a set done soon in Hydrodipping, very cool as you can pick out what color and type  of weave you want. Then have a nice clear coat over the finish. Thanks Norm

Norm,

SKY888 had Status seats and may have some lessons learned for you if you PM him.  And a call to JPM should answer any questions on the bag sensors.

Hello I asked Joe, he refered me to Dave at DDM, Dave said Joe would know, so I figuired it myself. Wasnt that hard, just trying to make it look factory. This wasnt a hard install just a bunch of running around and tedious. Which is par for the course around here. If it was easy anybody could do it.

Anyway I was just whining and being pissy, must be that time of the (oops cant say that). lol

That's odd when GJ and I hijack threads there is no warning like that.  Was that an upgrade that was made when the forum was down this last weekend?

Is this seat change out on the redesign of the madmod car? I'd like to see more on the new work or are you bringing to Nationals?

Must have new pictures.

Emailed too on other questions.
