It was unintentional. I purchased a ring that was Gen 4 2008, 2009, 2010 but the leather shift boot was 2003-2006. Still fits perfectly.

I looked at other sellers on Ebay and the web and some advertise their shift boot for 2003-2010 Vipers so it's no surprise they work together.

My Viper Ring just came back from the galvanic (I had it chromed) and it looks awesome(on the photographs). JPM is actually building a Shifter with a (hopefully) fitting boot and a friend of mine made me a ring of matte acrylic glass (Dunno if you call it Acryglas or Plexiglas as we do in Germany...) with LED`s to be placed below the shifter ring.
The interior Trim (Opel GT) is handed over to "the specialists". (a local paint shop is adapting the square opening to a round one and painting it glossy black)

You can`t imagine how hard I want to finish this "mod", but sadly my tour won`t end before July/August...

Anyway, the question is: Is the JPM shifter knob in the exact same position of the OEM one? I'd like to add an "ambient lighting" but want it to highlight the shifter knob. From the pictures it looks like the JPM knob is a little bit bend, right?

No. The one that is bent was a special one made for a customer. The standard JPM shifter looks like this:

I bought the viper ring off of ebay, put the stock boot on and black allen head bolts. I love the new look too! I have the JPM shifter and had to raise the position of the shift knob because my little finger was getting pinched between the knob and ring. Other than that no problem and again I love the new look, thanks for all of the great info on this mod.

No. Just white CF vinyl wrap. 3M Scotchprint 1080. Dash is torn apart because I was running a cable up to the rearview mirror to hardwire my radar detector in. Also, thinking of recovering the dash in faux leather while it's out.
Also thinking about changing the AC vents into round ones, moving the radio up and the AC controls down in the vertical center console.

Did you have to change something on the fascia? Or did the ring cover the "old" rectangular opening by itself?

I have the same job to do when I return to Germany, except the ring is chromed and the fascia to be painted in glossy black...

I had to make an adapter plate that was shaped the same size as the "old" rectangular piece and drilled holes for the screws and the two alignment pins. I then used epoxy all around to mold it in. I also used epoxy on the underside and to hold the 1/4-20 SS nuts in place. I sanded it down on top to be smooth and flush. I spray painted the whole assembly with gray primer and then applied the white CF decal.

I thought about using 2mm ABS plates to fill the rectangular opening...

The original fascia is around 1/8" THK. The rectangular opening has a lip that extends down into the shifter housing. I used a Dremel tool to cut it off so that I had a flat surface to epoxy the 1/8" THK aluminum plate I fabricated to fit in the rectangular hole.

Finally, I finished my build, too.
Viper Ring(chromed),
JPM Shifter,
JPM Boot,
the cover modified with 2mm ABS.
I also cleaned the cupholder on the side, never liked it.
The entire cover was then painted in glossy Black by a local shop.
I really like the result!

I added the Glass, but removed it after a short tryout.
Due to the thickness, the ring was nearly 1cm higher and it felt "too high".
So I am driving without the LEDs now.

The wheel is the stock one. It was "just" reshaped and cover with different leather.

P.S.: I recently handed a 50mm v2a-ball with a fitting thread oder to my specialist, to have it chromed the same style the ring is chromed. I don't think the gunmetal finish look good in my Car.

Love the chromed Ball instead of the "original" shifter sphere.

Time to focus on the Installation of my additional gauges now.
