Antonio- I think you're a little low on that 415whp number and the rods. You're about 100whp too low. If rods "started" bending at 415whp, there would be dozens and dozens of LNF's out there bending rods. PISTONS are good to about that number, as long as the tune is good. GM says the rods need to be replaced with aftermarket ones at 400hp. They recommend pistons at 300hp. Hmm, notice that 100hp difference? That's how far off your number is. At least. I've got quite a few LNF's running around out there on stock pistons putting out between 375whp and 425whp. We know pistons can live for years at ~400whp, it makes no sense at all to say rods will fail at 415whp. I believe GM even says sleeves need to be upgraded BEFORE rods. How much whp does the average or well tuned LNF put down before breaking sleeves? A helluva lot higher than 415whp.

I rather be low and cause more harm to the engine.

Cobalt forums had a lot of bent rods below 450whp. Yeah you'll say that it's due to bad tune.

Greaseyjockey who has the gt35 solstice bent his rods below 450whp. His rpm I believe was around 9000 rpm which might cause the rod failure.. He actually was the first LNF who grenades his block at the track when he tested and sprayed his nitrous.  He didn't really care because he is finding the weakness of LNF. These were all 3 yrs ago.

So why would I use my stock rods if I want to push the power above 415whp and rev to 9000rpm and risk the chance of bending a rod then further damage other engine internals in the process?

Your boy Jeb, had a rod go thru the block even below 400 whp :)
Remember that? ;)

All I can say is stop harassing gmtech. He might cry like a baby. I noticed this both at the cobalt forum and Skyroadster. If everybody turns on him due to his arrogance, he will leave the forum.

He hated Jeb before, since Jeb trolled his posts. But Jeb with his pathetic 20g sky, can't get his tune right, asked for gmtech's help. And that's y he stopped annoying gmtech's. he became a puppy and that's what gmtech wants forum members to do for him.

He hated zzp because zzp didn't sponsor him.

No slander there :)

Hmmmm... There might be a trend here.

Gmtech was bashing all the products of zzp, when they didn't sponsor him or made a deal.

Now gmtech is bashing the 2871 turbo of ddm and bnr??? Hmmmmmm .... Lol

Gmtech,

We never tuned the GMG race car.

I will not respond to the other ridiculous posts, but this one I have to respond to. Someone is not telling the truth. It's not me, I'm just repeating what I was told a year ago and also what I just verified 10 minutes ago. A lot of you guys think I just like to "bash" vendors. What I'm trying to temper is the fact that some of you Lemmings think all these vendors can do no wrong and every product they make is perfect. That simply is not true. You must ALWAYS question things, don't just follow blindly because of the vendor's name. I don't know what the real story is here on the GMG car, and at this point I really don't care. I just had a little bit of a problem with a vendor saying another statement that I understood to not be true. Either Dave is lying or Jeremy Smallwood, the crew chief at GMG specifically working on Bill Ziegler's cars is. It really doesn't matter at this point, the car is fixed and runs good.

If I had a single tune log or tune file for them, I would completely agree with you. However I have no tune logs, or tune files for their install. When they had the problem with their turbo, that was infact the first thing i asked for, none could be provided, i also asked for a copy of the tune to see if i could see anything with it to help them out and could not get a copy of that either. When I get back to the shop I will pull up the emails and see if possibly they were using trifecta, that is the only possibility that I can think of that might make them think it was anyone here.

OK.
Well let's see if we can get the thread back on topic.
Kelu thanks for the pictures of the Garret manifold.
Since I will not be racing my car and is not even a daily driver it looks like I will be getting the SS tubular manifold.
I want to make a comment about the 2 manifolds but fear, based on all the above post is going to go of topic.
I will ask again if someone could point me in the right direction to get the pieces need it to complete this EFR-6758 project.
Thanks

I looked through all of my emails up here (sorry I am not at the shop right now, but an event on the mountains). I found a email correspondence with Jeremy were I did send a base tune over with the turbo to them to get things started. Then I asked for any kind of log, no usable log could be provided. They also had an issue reported with their map sensor failing. Then they tried another tune (not supplied by us), then they tuned it on the Dyno (once again not by us)and then they had the issue with the turbo. So I was wrong in the earlier statement that I never tuned their car, I did send a base tune file to get them to get them going, but was not able to make any adjustments to it without any kind of logs from them. There was at least 2 more tunes made to the car after the base tune was sent to them which were not done by us, based on the emails from Jeremy that I have.

Maybe you should ask Jeremy who tuned the car on the dyno on September 13th, or the tune that he said they did on August 23rd. These were both after the original base tune was sent around the 20th of August and both of them did not involve us.

Someone posted earlier here or on SF that DDM could do an EFR set-up. I don't know if that is true. But, with your relationship with them, ask Dave what he can do for you on the supporting parts.

Thanks Dave, I think we both had bad information and memory issues on this, I think we can put it to bed now. All I ever heard was you tuned it. If all I wanted to do was "bash" vendors, don't you think I would have run with that info a year ago? No, I only brought it up when I was pushed into a corner. I now believe, from what Jeremy has told me, that there was a 3rd party doing changes to your base tune. That was not you, and it was not me either. When I specifically asked about the Sonoma race, he said you weren't available and they were using "someone else" to make changes to try to get the car running. That was all before I was involved.

I think my statement about my intentions with vendors needs to be reiterated. I'm not "out to get" or "talk trash about" ANY vendor. I simply state what most people are scared to say. Do I think DDM is a good vendor with a good company? ABSOLUTELY. Does that mean I think there's a viable excuse for taking a year and a half on a customers V/8 job? No. Do PERSONALLY like the 2871 turbo? No. Does that mean I will never buy a product from DDM? ABSOLUTELY NOT. (In case the double negative is confusing, I'm saying I would absolutely buy, and have in the past bought products from DDM.) Do I also think the ZZP 5th injector kit is garbage? ABSOLUTELY. Is everything they make or sell garbage? No. And BTW, them "turning me down" for a sponsorship is hilarious. Yes, I did send them an email stating that I was looking for a vendor to WORK WITH. I also sent that email to 4 other vendors. I worked with Dave at Performance Autowerks for one reason, I had a good feeling about him and his ability to get me a turbo kit in a timely fashion. He came through. Did he get more from me than I got from him? I'm betting if you asked him he'd say yes. Do I think his design tube manifold (the one I got in the kit) is a good product? H#LL NO. Mine cracked, along with probably every other one he sold. Would I still buy products or work with him? Absolutely. And the part about "sponsorship"? Um yeah, you'll all say I'm "bragging" again, but let's just say I didn't, and never have needed anyone's help doing any of my projects. I connect with different people and vendors not so much for what I can get out of them, but what I can GIVE to them. It's ALWAYS an even exchange, or a Win-Win.

That's my point. We're all humans. We all do things that are good and bad. I'm just the one that gets passionate about things like cr@ppy 5th injector kits, or guys making completely false statements, or vendors saying things I don't believe are accurate. You guys can make it so I don't feel like ever coming back here, that's fine. This forum will be fine, or as fine as a dead car forum can be. I'll tell you this though, if there aren't guys like me that aren't afraid to go against the grain and question what people say, this forum will go back to being it's boring self. Can anyone of you guys that were bashing me say this forum hasn't been this exciting in months? Try talking about things that really matter instead of Cars and Coffee or Lambo door cr@p.

Thanks again for clearing that one point up Dave, I appreciate it. Your statement about not ever tuning the GMG car was against what I believed to be true. I have no problem with you as a vendor. What makes a cr@ppy vendor is if no one questions or cares about the products they sell or the job they do. I guess all I can say is I've dropped in on these forums every once in awhile to try to keep vendors, and other forum members, "honest"! That's all. If anyone remembers, that's why I left this forum before. Snapon Bob kept telling people that E85 was evil and everyone's car would blow up if you put it in your tank. I saw what he was saying and had to let people know the truth, which has since proved correct. I got tired of trying to convince him, so I gave up trying. Meanwhile I, and others that wanted to listen and learn, went on using E85 to make our engines run better.

This is all so unproductive it's ridiculous. I said I was leaving and going back to my family, projects and life. Let's ALL do that.

BTW, LV if you need help finding parts to do the EFR kit, PM me and I'll help you. I believe you're one of the "good" ones and I still have your brace on our other car. (Won't work on the LSA car.) I have a Werks tube manifold that was repaired by Chris at Stainless Headers. It's the one I originally had on my car with the EFR. It cracked in a couple places, Chris did a good job repairing it, but it is the first cr@ppy design one. If you want to run it on your car, I'll GIVE it to you. It's never been run after it was repaired. I'm sure it would work fine for a casual driven car.

This topic has taken a turn for the better. Now that we have it back on an off track course, would the OP be kind enough to get us back on track.

OP-
Any update on what turbo you are looking at?  Current thoughts on how you would like your set up to perform? And what / where you would like to use the new fun (street, strip, autox etc)

There is a wealth if INFO available from people around here. Sometime our jousting contests get in the way if delivering the info in a smooth and helpful manor. Apologies to the OP for that.  I will do my best to make sure it doesn't happen again.

The benefit of the 2871 is you can get more power now with the least financial commitment.  You do not have to worry about all the questions LV is asking.  It's a full kit.  It comes with everything you need.
If you decide later [And we know you are an indecisive guy IE: Sell Solstice, 1 year later buy a different solstice] :D  you can go a different route.

I have one of the first 10 2871's installed [Very Un Lemming Like] and really like it.  When we changed from 93 Octane to E47 It made the car feel completely new again.  The 2871 setup loved the additional timing and we have it pushing a safe but not too high boost.
I am completely satisfied with it and will stick with the 2871.

Is it as fast as some of the other options out there.
No
Does it hit full spool at 3000 rpms and hold [Have HPT logs to prove this]
Yes
That's what I want. A good responding car for street use.  Due to the cost, I had money left over to do other upgrades I wanted on my car.

Other options will net more speed at a ratio of more cost.  They are good options and are available.
So try to decide what you want before you make the decision

I was thinking about upgrading the turbo to a GT3076R and was wondering how much work do you think it would take to get this to fit on the GXP. I was looking at the DDM turbo but it just seems small IMO. Any input is much appreciated.

For the OP-

Here is your OP. in case you are more less confused than when we began.

What I can tell you is:
Faster usually equals $$$

Answer these questions an lets go from there:

Goals- (400whp?) in early RPM range? For street use (not tracking the car)?

Budget- unlimited? $5000? $1500?

I want to instal myself? I'm taking it to a local shop? In taking it to??

I want to- be able to revert back to stock easily?  - be able to crank it up to 500whp in the future?

I will also be upgrading my-
Suspension, tires, brakes, headlight fluid, driver skills....

Donkey man-  it is really all about what you want out if the car. I can sell you anything you want to buy. You may hate it. 700 HP is great. Unless its only available at 9000 rpm an you are using this as your daily driver. Then it's useless.

No
Does it hit full spool at 3000 rpms and hold [Have HPT logs to prove this]
Yes

To be clear this is the hybrid DDM 2871 which comes as a kit. A GT2871R will not spool as early, nor bolt up, for example.

Im not really worried about the money if the product is what I'm looking for and produces but I don't want to spend 10 grand on a setup either.

Yes street use with every once in a while going to the drag strip to hurt some people's feelings.

I would have DDM install whatever is decided.

Not really worried about putting it back to stock since I'm see keeping this one and yes I would like to turn the boost up in the future input I decided to.

On suspension I have bought every suspension part from DDM except the upgraded sway bars which is on the list and haven't decided on lowering yet.

I plan on doing the brake upgrade from DDM as well as I have the brake lines already

Yes
And also to be clear
The Dyno for the DDM 2871 from miller was on 93 Octane
This is significant because
All other Dynos and results have been with higher Octane fuels mostly E47.
