FS: Thinking of selling my 2008 GXP - Los Angeles Area
« on: July 24, 2015, 01:12:51 PM »
Never thought i'd see this day :(
However much has happened since my last post two years ago. Got married, bought a house, sold a house and had my first child.

I was really hoping to hold onto the Sol until my son was old enough to participate, but with child safety laws and the fact that his mom and dad are very short, hell we may not even be allowed to drive our own cars by that point...
Also, need the garage space as I am hoping to create a "man cave" for me and my son to play music (drums), video games and other noisy things that perhaps mom would be happier to not be directly exposed to..

So,
I have a black 2008 GXP Convertible with 39,125 miles, black leather seats w/ white stitching garage kept.
Not sure what it is worth as I have many mods done and for some that is desirable and others not.

$13900 sound right?
I will work on photos over the next couple of days. Appreciate any feedback you folks would like to give...

Also a bunch of minor extras.
At work now but off the top of my head:
3 volume phone book sized GM service manuals for the car
Original springs (in a box)
Plastic engine cover (has the DDM valve cover in polished silver on the engine currently)
Original radio head unit
Owners manual
Coffee table Solstice book (can't remember the title right now)

That's all I can remember right now. Will post some more stuff over the weekend.
Thanks for looking :)

Your pricing is pretty good for quick sale, or you may want to start a little higher and have room to negotiate.

Thanks for the honest feedback LV.   Hate negotiating and squabbling over money, though i guess it goes with the whole used car territory..

Definitely do not want to do the whole craig's list or ebay thing.

Hoping for something fair for both parties, and more importantly, want her to go to a good (and proud) Kappa-Centric owner.
I am only listing her here..

You guys and gals (and this community) were the main reason i got the Kappa bug in the first place!

Have a great weekend  :urock:

That's the current KBB Value.   I would suggest that if you do advertise at that price, be patient and hold to it.

True, elff but he has a few Mods an owner would not have to purchase, so the price for the year and mileage is pretty good in my opinion.
Also and this is to you Gadget, our community here is rather small so, I would suggest advertising on the Main Board for a much larger audience.

I agree, which is why I stated if he advertises it for the KBB book to not take any lowball offers.
the weather is still warm, so it's a great time to sell a nicely equipped and in good condition roadster

I understand you don't want to advertise on CL or Ebay, but selling a car is all about generating as much exposure as possible.

Things I'd mention are; small but loyal Solstice/SKY forums followings, paid off (if it is), never been smoked in, never driving in winter, no accidents, recalls all performed, and no test drives until down payment is seen/received.  I'd also note that all aftermarket parts come from trusted and well known Kappa community vendors.  Price wise I'd just put the price you want, and if someone calls and ask if you're flexible, simply say; everything is negotiable, but I feel I'm right on the money, do you have a number in mind?.  That way you haven't sad yes, but also let someone know $500 bucks isn't going to cancel the sale.

Oh yeah, you're make a big mistake, I can't tell you how many times I've read I'm sorry I sold my Kappa posts.

Yes, you can go by the kbb price, but you should always leave in some wiggle room. From what Ive seen with sky redlines, they are going for about 15 for about the mileage you have without the extras you have. So I would list it for $15k to be able to negotiate with them down to what youre actaull asking. If they take it for more than what youre asking, not really a bad thing. But thats just me.

All good advice and much appreciated!

Now that I am a dad, I only get to drive her once a month (just to keep her running). The rest of the time she is covered and in my garage.

I'd really like to share her with my son, but as noted it will be way too long till his is tall enough to even ride safely in her.
So yes, i really dont need or even want to sell her, but i do need that garage space more than i need the car.

And as GJ says, it never rains here and boy aint that the truth these days. Winter out here is one of the best times to drive as it is cool enough to have the top down without frying your scalp.
I never did any racing but did have a lot of fun going over the hill from the Valley to Malibu via "the snake" :) Even ran into (not literally) Jay Leno on his Jet Bike going to the Rock Store.. Good times!

Got to visit his Garage through the charitable organization I volunteer at last year. Wow, talk about redfining the word "garage".

As far as negotiating, that is what i do for a living. Probably why I am loathe to contemplate having to go through that at home. You all are right, and i will post it on the dreaded CL and thanks for the tips on going that route. Really, I am not in a rush and would be willing to take a little less dough knowing she was going to a good home. Someone would just have to convice me of that.

Thanks again all, you folks are the best.
