New Toy
« on: May 21, 2017, 04:41:35 PM »
Hi Everyone! I'm John from Dayton, OH and just bought a 2007 Red Solstice with 22K. Most impractical car I ever owned , but I wanted one and I love it! I'm 6'2 and it's a little tight, but I fit. I look forward to meeting people on here and learning tips and tricks about these cars.

Welcome aboard!  If your car still has the factory tires (with only 22K miles, it just might), I highly recommend changing those ASAP.  10+ year old tires that weren't ever much good to begin with might cause you some problems.

Is your car a base or GXP?

Is it an early 07 or late 07?  The late 07 should have an electric driver seat height adjustment on the front left side of the seat.  It makes it a little easier for us tall people to fit.

Another Welcome from Northeast Ohio.  There are a few owners around Dayton we know.  Look for a red special edition floating around!  If you like to drive, we'll be driving around Southeast Ohio in October.  I should post an event, but I'm getting lazier in my old age!

Enjoy your ride!

Welcome to the forum.

Mine is the base model and it does have the power seat. The fit is really not to bad, but my right leg gets a little tired. I'm glad its an auto, I think the a 5 speed would be a little tight for foot room for me.

Has anyone tried to mod a non electric seat and make it an electric seat?  Sounds like something this forum would do.

The Solbra owner/fabricator did just that.  He said it was a pain in the butt.  Lot of things he had to change/fabricate to make it happen.

With all the wrecks, seems like it would be much easier to just buy a replacement seat and swap them.  If color or material is an issue, the seat covers are some of the easiest in the world to remove.  At one point I think we got it down to 30 minutes to install the heated seats wiring excluded.

A swap has been done by me back in '09. I swapped power seat track for power seat track but all you would have to do if going from no height adjustment is get power to the seat. I shipped my old track to a member here so he could add a height adjustment to his seat.
