Thanks for letting me in the group
« on: July 21, 2025, 09:35:13 PM »
Just a little info on me, I purchased my first Kappa/Saturn Sky Redline 2007 black, manual trans from a local Pull-A-Part almost 2 years ago. It had been wrecked in the front and needed the front clip and ECM that was damaged in the wreck. It's in pretty good shape otherwise. Has 130,??? miles. Never heard it run outside of my dreams. Now I'm working on the wiring and plug that that plugs into the ECU that was destroyed in the crash.
The other one is also an 07, black, manual trans but base model that I bought back in May of this year that has 203,??? miles. It had been slid sideways into a Crape Myrtle tree. Still drives great but destroyed the passenger door and also did enough chassis damage so that a replacement door will not work. Caused some trunk body lines to be a little off also.
So my plan is to take the best parts and put on the Redline to make the best car of the two. The base car that will be left will, well it be be the donor chassis drive train for another project. I know some may frown on this but what is better? Part it out and scrap what's left or use as much of it as possible to get another vehicle on the road?
If it all goes the way I have planned I'm sure most will believe that I made the right choice. If you want to follow along I will be posting videos on my YouTube channel as it happens. You can also check out some of my other cars that I have saved from the crusher and gave them another chance.

Yes, I do have a YouTube channel, GRACECAR DRIVER GARAGE. It has some of the projects on there along with car show pics and videos. And other stuff my wife loads on there.

Might I make a suggestion that would likely help to build the channel? You record is portrait mode, with the phone held vertically. Too hard to watch anything other than a short. If you were to hold the phone sideways it fills the screen more, there's a reason the big boys shoot video in the format they do.
Just a though and take it for what it's worth but looking forward to seeing how the project progresses.

Absolutely agree. I have a few on there that I did and made that mistake. My wife does most of the videoing and is hard to convince of that. She is, well as they say "set in her ways" and says it's hard for her to hold the phone. Thanks again

A cell phone pistol grip might make it easier to hold it for less than $20 on Amazon.

A decent gimbal image stabilizer can be had for less than $100, it's important that she's comfortable.while helping you to record.

I love spending other people's money.    ;)

OK!! You talked me into it, just ordered one. Are you a salesman by trade? If not you may want to look into it. LOL.

Too funny! I should make it easier to hold though for her which is the most important thing. You know what they say, "Happy wife..."   :D

Thanks Critterman. Glad to be here. No other Redlines near me but I also have a base but harness is different in that it has 3 plugs for the ECM where the Redline only has 2.

If the frame is straight on the base there is the Vettekart, therefore Kappakart, otherwise some type of front engine Goblin: https://www.hotrod.com/news/roadkill-episode-35-1985-c4-corvette-kart-vs-2014-lingenfelter-c7
Pretty cool you're bringing a Solstice back to life, thank you  :usa:
