Meet Don
« on: July 19, 2009, 09:14:17 AM »
Not quite sure where or how to post this, but I felt it necessary for you all to meet Don. We were at the Olmstead Kiwanis car show at Michigan Internal Speedway's infield yesterday. There were 2 Solstices there, Lucy, and Don's. Meet Don:

What makes Don so special? THIS:

That's right #1 Mallet Solstice! Took 9 months for Mallet to complete the car. He picked it up the same day it was delivered to the dealer. I've invited Don to join us here, so keep your fingers crossed he does. More pics of Don and his Mallet #1 Solstice:

Don wants to do a few mod's to his car, like a stainless grill and a wind deflector, but didn't know where to look. I think he will show up sometime soon. GREAT guy. Glad to meet him.

Hope he shows up here!  Lots of knowledge on mods!

BTW ... I believe that the Mallet plaque means its the #1 car for 2008 - I know of at least two '06 mallets.

I'd like to drive a Mallet just once - especially when a Vette pulls up along side.
Just here to help a friend!

Funny, I just read the complete thread about Mallet is closed.  Then I next came onto this thread and see Don's car from Mallet, he should feel lucky.

Just read that thread myself. He is one of the lucky ones. Appears to be a lot of people that will be fighting to get their cars back.

I believe he said it was the 1st automatic. But it sounds more correct for it to be the 1st '08. Hope he shows up here! NICE guy! He's "legally" blind. I think his wife drove, and they went around the track, also, as we did. I tried to convince him to have his son drive him in his Mallett down to the Tail of the Dragon! He'd have a BLAST!

The only excuse I can think of would be drag racing. Automatics do tend to have an advantage in that arena...

All this time I thought that Duck was Canadian and that's why I had a hard time understanding his posts. I didn't realize the Canadians didn't understand him too. :poke:

I met Don last year at the Onsted Car Show.  I thought mine was the only Solstice then he pulled up in his Mallet!  It seems to be put together very well and I was drooling!

I live about 15 mins from MIS but didn't go this year.  I guess I need to get with Lucy'sDaddy so I can hang with you next year!!  Any other Kappa owners out there?

HA, I thought he was from Chicago or Illinois or something :poke: right back!

If he was from Chicago he would most likely be too fat to fit in a Kappa.  I wonder if it has anything to do with all that cheep Wisconsin beer that they drink in the Windy City, then again the sausage and cheese might also be contributing factors.  Come to think of it Chicago might be Canadian, its illegal to have handguns there too.(this is not in any way to imply that Canadians are fat)  And your right I have a hard time understanding what Chicagoans are saying too.

Maybe he is Cajun, you know America's version of French Canadian, I can't understand either one.  Ah, the French those..... :goat:

That numberplate indicates it was the first car completed as a 2008, not the first conversion completed.
