Bought a used set of Magnaflow and installed it Saturday.  Never knew that a"catback" could add perceivable power and torque bumps.  Even my wife noticed it, "it's stronger".  I don't have a dyno before and after, but I can almost swear that the turbo reaches max pressure in lower rpm.

Not again.......................
You are correct it does away with the unlearn
The problem is, the GMPP tune is a canned tune and as such, is not optimized for 3rd party add ons. You get 290hp at the crank.
We have dyno results of 4 different cars on the same day / Same Dyno that prove my statement.

Kenny can back me up.  4 cars, same day, 1 stock, 3 with aftermarket parts.  All +/- 2hp of 265hp

then to further back this up, someone the Solstice forum in another part of the country posted the following results
*********
GM Performance Tune Dyno Results - Pontiac Solstice Forum

OK I got dynoed this morning. Heres the power mod List:

GMPP Tune
RPi Exhaust
RPi High Flow Cat
Hahn Intercooler

Heres the results:
Peak HP 269
Peak Torque 320
********

So it's not that the GMPP tune undoes anything, You just never GAIN anything above the listed 290hp at the engine.
Sorry, but like I already stated, and have been involved in the proof, aftermarket parts do no more than make sounds, look nice and empty your wallet.

You need a custom tune to take advantage of 3rd party parts

Fortunately I am only a mile and a half from the dealer. I did get some strange looks in tha short time on the road. BTW the tires are Conti DWS, standard 245/45/18.

Yeah, they are the Sky wheel upgrade that are pretty rare. I have only seen one other set on a Sky.

Okay, I guess I have to tell the story of the wheels, just don't hate me when it's done. About 8 months after I bought the car (Feb 2008), so October, I'm talking to the service manager at my Saturn dealership, while they were doing an oil change. He told me that, at a Saturn store that the conglomerate had closed, he had a set of wheels that were taken off another Sky, that the owner didn't want. I inquired as to their difference and he said he liked them better then stock. I came to find out later that they were a $2300 upgrade.
Anyway, he kept telling me that they were starting to bring over the parts from the other store and he would notify me when these wheels came in. I waited through October, November and December. I was back in January for an install on the car and I asked him again. The wheels still hadn't made it. Finally, in March of 2009 I asked again and when he asked the parts guy he was told they were in back. I asked to see them and once I did I knew I had to have them.
I inquired as to what he wanted for them and he told me $300. I was thinking $300 apiece, I was wrong, he wanted $300 for the set! I had them changed out while I waited. After they had been changed he asked if I was coming back for the chrome 5 spoke wheels that were taken off the car. I couldn't believe it, a huge upgrade and I could keep my wheels also?  :yay:
Came back later that day and picked up my old wheels which I sold later for more then I paid for the new ones. I picked up a spare at a wheel place from Georgia, don't remember it's name (I will look for it).
So that's the story, special option and I got lucky to get them.

I actually find that I bought a pair of spares, guess getting old makes you forget. I'm sure that they came off eBay. Went out and checked the boxes, company is North Texas Factory Take Offs. You can find their # on Google, but it doesn't appear that they have a web site.

TS, just right place at right time.
smartin, thanks, I really like the wheels, and I love the car
