Well, I disconnected the battery and let the car sit all night that way. When I hooked everything up and started the car, the CEL was off, and everything was running fine. :yay:

Hopefully it stays off.

No it should idle rough, should idle a little high.  You aren't that far from Joe's, maybe you could meet him for lunch since you both work at Pax and get him to read it with the DH and clear it.  If I remember correctly it takes several cycles to clear an emmission code.

Does disconnecting the battery clear the hx codes also?

Sorry but disconnecting the battery does not erase history.  Even if you can erase your tune Gm will see a hiccup on the history.  Gm shops are required to send a picture of your history for any major engine problem including trans/diff to the regional office for approval. Hiccups on picture void warranty. I am currently paying for a total re build of my engine for blown piston Gray Wolf

DBG checked the history with the dashhawk, and didn't see anything. Since the locking gas cap causing this issue is well documented, I doubt GM would give me any issues. And if they do, they'll wish the hadn't, because nowhere have I seen GM tell me not to disconnect the battery. Furthermore, I have a bone stock engine, heck even the locking gas cap that caused this issue was a GM part. If asked why I didn't have a dealer clear the codes, the response will be that the only dealership I trust with my car is 2.5 hours away, and I won't risk any other dealer screwing up the car. (I know of a few documented cases to back that statement up.)

And if the evap systems can cause a blown engine I'll go rip all that crap off the car right now. Pretty sure it doesn't affect any major engine components.

I got to tell you, I have had a bunch of tunes and codes on my engine and diff went, Dealer replaced diff without any questions or problems.  I was only asking about whether the codes were still in hx so he could figure out what was wrong.  Certainly not to trick GM.  i have been up front with dealer about everything.  Same dealer little goat and Smartin use.

I just hope they stay in business.

That's the same dealer I was referring to as well. Everybody has said to go to them, so if I ever have to that's what I'll do.

Well, the light came back on again this morning, at about the same place it did last time.

The gas cap was my best bet, now I'm clueless. Might have to take it to a dealer...

Gentle men, I read the Gm bulletin and hicups on the hx voids your warranty . Disconnecting your battery does not cause a hiccup on history ONLY NON FACTORY TUNES THAT ARE ERASED.  My car looks different than yours and they would void my warranty 20 feet away from the car.  Extreme dimension nose, rollbar, 6pt harness and #34 on each door. Relax the dealerships want your business. Besides when I pull up,  the car is in a race trailor with 4 custom hooks under car for strap down, front nose eye hook for the trailor winch and a big Hahn intercooler peering through the custom Grill not to mention the oz racing wheels and hoosier race slicks with 4 extras in the trailor or is it the Helmut and Hans neck brace?

I put the new gas cap on and it's been good since.  Cost all of $23.00 for a new cap.  The new one has a different loking system.  I had the CEL go off driving to the dealer to replace the ater pump and they clared it and did the WP werk under warranty.  They did not even question the Superchips tune.

Well, so far so good. Looks like the silicone grease did the trick.

That being said, I found another issue today...will start a new post for that one...
