Wheel liner info - are yours cracked?
« on: August 02, 2011, 01:35:18 PM »
Are any of your wheel liners cracked?

Post here your car model and which wheel liner.

For those in the tri-state area or frequently come to my mod meet, I may be able to get replacement liners at a great savings.  There one catch, I have to buy a shit load so I need to be able to justify doing this.

The first three numbers is the part index (see attached pics), followed by the GM part number

Depending on the price I may want a set for the front just to have as spares.

GXP RF 25914761
GXP LF 25914762

My dealer replaced one of these for me right before I went to England, they were kind enough to F'up my fenders in the process too, so I get to work with that now.

Do the front liners come with the weather strip that helps seal the liner with the hood?  My early 07 GXP did not come with this weather strip.  I had to order them individually...I just tried to order another yet...not available separate anymore according to my dealer.

Both of my fronts could use replacing.
To help with the quantity, I would take 2 full pairs, just to have a spare set.

no, those strips (clear 3m)were supposed to be applied to the inside of the hood, not on the wheel liner itself.

My fronts are cracked but only the passenger-side was replaced under warranty.  The driver side has additional cracks from impact by the previous owner.

I use modified door weatherstripping to seal the gap between the hood and the fender liner.  I managed to get a couple used weatherstripping from an E36 M3.  I've lost one before and replaced it.

Somehow, I don't think mine are cracked and I didn't notice any cracks when I was cleaning them the last 2 days.  I'll take a better look at them and let you know.

My fenders are both dented though.  One is pretty bad.

No not that...The long black weather/seal strip attached to the liner.

just for the sake of info, when i was doing the turn light mod, i noticed that each one of the front have a small crack at the point where it connects to the bumper.

i suggest, that since Joe can have a good deal on them, anyone should buy at least a spare set.

A dead blow rubber mallat and a padded chair is all I need to do wonders to fix the dents on the fender.  I have straighted many this way so that they are barely noticable.

My front liners are cracked for the second time this year. At the fastening points of course. The push pins were put in the last time they were changed in May and now they are cracked where the screws fasten it to the bumper. Two sets in a few months is just ridiculous.

I am going to see if I can try and get the liners from the dealer before they replace them this time as this will be my last set as the warranty is expired. I hope that I can reinforce the back of them with JB weld or something. I don't want them cracking again.

That said, I may be interested in a set just in case I need them over the next 20 years or so.   :(

They were a later addition.  There was a discussion on the SF about these a while back, so I ordered a set, cost about $9 to $14 a piece.

A month ago I decide to order a second set from a local dealer, part number was nolonger any good and it looked like it came as part of the front wheel liner now.

So I am just curious when folks get the front wheel liner that Joe is ordering, will the weather/seal strip come with it.

The liner that I had installed in the spring didn't have it.

This page shows the weatherstripping (#13) comes with the fenders but it also shows that the liners are not available. It would be good if the weatherstrip came with them but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'd take a set of front liners.  My Driver's side one is cracked where it bolts onto the fender, but I may as well replace both of them...

My front ones have just started cracking around the fasteners. Not enough to warrant replacing yet, but if the price is right I'm in for a pair of RL front liners.

I notice some where that someone took the screws off the wheel liner and replace them with push fasteners, the ones that holds the trunk liner in place....... I have 2 extra sets for the front an 1 extra for the rear that I was able to buy at $20 each. Will be replacing the front with new liners and was thinking of using the push fasteners idea....
